We like these plates and bowls but were surprised that they cannot be used to reheat foods in the microwave. They are nicely lightweight and have raised edges for moist foods and an attractive and colorful pattern. I’m not familiar with Melamine, but we do like how light they are and that they won’t shatter if dropped on a hard surface, 2 things increasingly important as we age. They are dishwasher safe and seem to hold up well, which continues to surprise us that they cannot be used in a microwave which forces us to choose other plates for our meals that require reheating. As such we use them for salads and dinners that are hot from the oven, but never our lunches which are often reheated leftovers from earlier meals.

For everyday meals, I had been using a set of plain gray plates that were perfectly functional but not very interesting. This floral dinnerware set adds a much nicer look to the table without feeling too fancy for casual dining. The pattern is cheerful and makes even a simple meal seem a little more special. The set includes dinner plates, smaller accent plates, and bowls, which covers everything I typically need for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This is my first set of melamine dinnerware. I really didn't know what melamine was or how it was different than other sets. Well, turns out these are a plastic material that's very durable when taken care of. They are shatterproof and so far haven't even taken any damage from knives. The design is great and I love that it's a full set of small plates, large plates and bowls. What I didn't know, is that if you microwave these (which you shouldn't) they can not only melt, but leach harmful chemicals into your food. So make sure that everyone in your household knows not to do that. Also I wouldn't put these in the dishwasher. The good side is that they clean pretty easily when hand washed.

This is a beautiful and worry-free collection of "24 Seven" everyday dinnerware from Oneida. I ordered the "Floral" option, and these dishes arrived smartly and safely packaged inside a sturdy, branded box. None of my pieces show any sign of damage or flaws. This set contains four 10.4" dinner plates, four 8" accent plates, and four 6" bowls. The plates all have a good lip on them to contain sauces and prevent spills, and the bowls have nice, steep sides and a generous 20 ounce capacity. These melamine dishes have a smooth, matte finish. They are top rack dishwasher safe, but are NOT microwave safe. The modern, watercolor botanical print on these pieces is simply lovely. It features an array of corals, pinks, yellows, and greens. The colors are much more vibrant in person than in the online product photos. This truly is a perfect spring and summer collection; it has a very "garden party" vibe. I grew up eating off of melamine dishes, and I am thrilled to see them making a comeback. The material is lightweight, but incredibly durable - great for everyday use. Currently on a "Limited time deal" for $24.99, they are also very affordable. They would make an excellent gift for an avid gardener; they are perfect for meals on the patio, surrounded by nature. I love this dinnerware set. It combines beauty with functionality, and just a hint of retro nostalgia. I recommend it wholeheartedly. Thank you, Oneida - wonderful product!
