My wife is horrible about breaking rods. lolol I bought this to replace the last rod she broke. I am no expert fishing gear guru but it seems fine and should work for her. She mainly fishes for Crappie. We will see how long before she breaks this one.

I ordered this 6' One Bass two-piece rod to have a convenient travel option for local bass fishing. I would consider taking this rod on my annual Baja, Mexico fishing trip as well but I need to see how it performs stateside before I expose it to big, tough saltwater fish (e.g. roosters, jacks, snappers, grouper, etc.). It's currently too cold to test it on any local fish so I'll just give the pros and cons as is. The pros include a good build with a very modern reel seat wherein the rod blank is exposed under the seat. This allows the user to feel even light strikes through the rod. The rod also features cork grips, an exposed lower handle, and low profile upper guides. While I normally prefer a one-piece bass rod, I must give kudos for a tight, attractive, functional ferrule connection that does not feel like it will fade during a long day of fishing. Further, when it came time to break the rod back down, it came apart with appropriate moderate effort. The color obviously makes quite a statement. If you're an Oregon Ducks fan, this is your rod! So, my cons are in two areas. One is a minor cosmetic issue and, arguably, just a personal preference. I think black guide frames would have looked better with the neon green rod blank/wraps. Maybe they were looking for "bling"? The second is a functional issue. The rod simply needs more guides. 6+1 cannot hold the line off the rod under the weight of a decent fish (see photo). For comparison, I included photos of a different bass rod I own (6'6"). Even though this rod is only six inches longer, look at all the guides! 9+1 makes a huge difference. You can see how the line is held free of the rod while under pressure. Whatever additional weight is added to the rod by the extra guides is outweighed by the benefit of keeping the line from touching the rod. With the addition of a couple of extra guides this rod could easily go from four stars to five. Having said all that, it's still a really good rod and priced quite competitively.

Let’s get the most obvious feature of this fishing rod out of the way first; This thing is GREEN ! And I mean G-R-E-E-N . It is the greenest fishing rod I have ever seen. Ever ! Kermit the frog, the Grinch and the Incredible Hulk have nothing on this rod. A blind man could tell how green it is. So, if you are allergic to green, go look somewhere else. If, however, you care more about performance than appearance and you appreciate getting good value for your money then you’ll want to get yourself one of these rods. I have been fishing in both salt and fresh water for over 50 years. I have used every type of fishing rod from the cheapest department store junk all the way to hand built custom rods costing hundreds to thousands of dollars. I even build some of my own fishing rods so I have a good understanding of what makes a good fishing rod and how a good one should be constructed. I have the 7’ spinning version of this rod. It’s a 2 piece rod which comes packed in a protective fabric bag which is held closed by a Velcro flap. I wouldn’t normally expect an inexpensive rod to come in a nice bag so this was a welcome surprise. Extra points for the bag. The specs on the rod say that it’s rated to throw 3/8 to 1 ounce and I’d say that seems about right. The specs also say that the rod is rated for 10 to 20 lb test line and that it’s classified as Fast Action with Medium Heavy power. I’m not quite sure what material the blank is made out of. Probably some proprietary graphite blend. The rod isn’t extremely light but it’s not heavy or unwieldy either. Very expensive graphite blanks tend to be extremely lightweight but they can be very fragile as well. This rod doesn’t feel fragile. It feels durable and since I’ve already banged it around a bit and it shrugged off every impact without damage, I’d say that it is. The rod feels good in your hands. It has what I’d consider a moderately fast action with a slightly softer tip. It casts 1 ounce lures easily and I wouldn’t worry about using a slightly heavier weight lure either. The rod works well with 10 lb line but I think 20 lb would be unnecessary . Construction of the rod is quite good. Guides are positioned on the blank nice and straight and the guide wraps are clean and neatly protected with epoxy. The skeletonized reel seat has a contoured back so that it fits the contour of the palm of your hand. I don’t actually care for that feature but it is certainly not a deal breaker. This is, after all, a fairly inexpensive rod. The cork handle/grips are neatly turned and as good as what I’ve seen on rods costing many times the price of this one. This rod is a clear winner in the inexpensive rod game and it punches way above its price point. It’s an excellent value for short money and should serve you well for many years. Get one and you won’t be disappointed. Oh and did I mention how green it is ?

The color is.....vibrant...in fact it almost seems to emit light of its own. It is POWERFULLY bright haha. As for the rod itself, it is on the light/flimsy side. I would in NO WAY call this a med-heavy rod. It is at best a Light power rod, it is also listed as a fast action. It is as slow as the day is long. Now, that being said, I can say that it will be a nice rod for certain fish and situations that necessitate a slower action rod with not a lot of power. It seems sensitive and overall seems to be a moderate quality rod.
