Description

Ren Quinn is perfect. At least, that’s what everyone thinks. By day, he works hard to be a model son, brother, and elementary school music teacher. But by night, Ren is Sky, a content creator for 4Play, an audio erotica app. He anonymously satisfies listeners around the world with his provocative audios…or so he thinks. Audrey Hinton hides in plain sight in her hometown since having her daughter, Piper, as a teenager. Ostracized by her community, Audrey protects herself and Piper by abiding by one rule: don’t let anyone close enough to see who she really is. When Piper’s new piano teacher turns out to be person from Audrey’s past and a voice from her present, she’s reminded why she keeps people at arms length. As Ren and Audrey are forced to navigate their unexpected relationship, Ren finds himself wanting to break his strict “no dating parents” rule, while Audrey lets someone in for the first time in years. After a lifetime of secrets and trying to control the narrative, can two people hiding their true selves be seen and loved for exactly who they are? After all, rules are meant to be broken. • A New Favorite Romance 🥰
Format: Kindle
What happens when you realize your daughter’s piano teacher is also your favorite erotic audio content creator?? This premise alone had me ready to devour this book and trust me when I say everything else is just SO good in this one! Ren is a cat daddy to Princess Leia and music teacher with a large family who has started supplementing his income by voicing audio erotica. Single mom Audrey got pregnant as a teenager and is living in her hometown with her teenage daughter Piper. Piper is autistic and the attention and care taken to the writing of the character was appreciated and made the story even better because it felt authentic. I loved the therapy representation in this book. Audrey actively has therapy in the book and talks about how she’s been doing it for years. Ren also talks about therapy and having a depressive episode in the past. Audrey has major depressive disorder, which I share this diagnosis too, and the way it’s written and talked about in the story is such an on point representation of how that disorder is chronic and feels to have in real life. Love how the author includes things like a demisexual and pansexual character (Ren) and a transgender character (a side character) and how she writes it feels so inclusive and just a natural part of the story. The banter between Audrey and her daughter Piper is so good and don’t think I missed all the Gilmore Girl mentions and how much it correlates to their own mother daughter relationship. This one goes down as a favorite of the year and I highly recommend it. Read this for: 🥰 friends to lovers 🐈 a cute cat 🏡 small town setting 🏳️🌈 queer representation 😔 depression rep ... show more

  • Katie's best work yet.
Format: Kindle
Thank you to the author for sharing an eARC. On My Side, the third Quiblings book by @katiedugganwrites, is absolutely perfect. In my Stefan voice - this book has everything: age gap, spicy audio narration, single mom/teacher, hidden identity, grumpy/sunshine, mental health rep, midsize rep, Autism rep (teenage girl),a playlist, and a cat dad(dy). I was such a cheeseball reading the story, grinning and giggling, blushing at a few scenes as well (I was not prepared to read this on family vacation), and gripping my heart with the vulnerability of each character coming into their own roles and together as a family. I’ll go ahead and say it - this book is Katie’s best yet and while it can be enjoyed as a standalone, y’all need to catch up and read From the Start and Back to Me so you can fully enjoy this big, loud, messy and lovely family of Quiblings. ... show more

Format: Kindle
I loved that FMC was so relateable physically. But didn't like the negativity from her, but also understand theres no other way to write that when youre trying to show that the MMC doesnt look at her the way she looks at herself. Katie did a good job of showing that. I loved the inclusivity of thos book and how relateable to real life this is. ... show more

  • The Quiblings have my heart
Format: Kindle
Katie Duggan delivered another beautiful (and spicy!) love story that I could not put down. on My Side has: •Queer rep •Depression rep •Autism rep •Age gap •Acknowledgement of religious trauma •Found family •Cute kitties! •Spice 😏 Ren was such a supportive and patient partner in respect to Audrey’s past trauma and insecurities. Plus his nerdiness made him even hotter! Piper had me cackling nearly every scene. Katie continues to wow me with every Quibling story and I’m looking forward to more of her work! ... show more

  • Incredible!!
Format: Kindle
I feel like this series just keeps getting better! I am already dying to read the next one! Ren Quinn works hard to appear a model son, brother, and elementary school music teacher by day, but he also has a side job as Sky, one of the top creators on the 4Play audio erotica app. When a friend asks him to teach summer lessons for one student even though he already decided not to teach private lessons this summer, his people pleasing instincts kick in and he says yes. What he did not expect was that the mother of his student would be Audrey Hinton (formerly Price) - his older sister’s high school bff and his childhood crush. Audrey changed her name and appearance when she moved back to town after being ostracized as a pregnant teen. She works hard to stay out of the public eye to make life easier for herself and her daughter, Piper. As they navigate their reunion and the unexpected relationship, they become closer, but when they uncover secrets and have to face their own fears they have to decide if they can love each other for who they truly are. I feel like I say it about every main character in this series, but I absolutely adored Ren and Audrey. Ren was absolutely adorable in his nerdiness and I loved that he was so relatable. As a people pleaser myself, I completely understand the pressure that he felt to be exactly what everyone needed. The representation of depression also felt really realistic because even though both Ren and Audrey suffered from depression they were still very different. Sometimes it feels like characters who suffer from depression can be very stereotypical and one-note, but in reality depression has a million different faces so I really appreciated the nuances. The mental health representation in general is absolutely fantastic. I also love the neurodivergence representation which is mainly portrayed through Piper in this book. While she does have conversations about sensory issues and they talk about her autism, it isn’t the main thing about her. In many ways, she is just a teenager. She is sarcastic and snippy sometimes and wants to prioritize looking good over function. Shout out to my sister who fought with our parents almost daily about wearing flip flops to high school in winter lol. I loved the way that you could tell Audrey raised Piper to be able to speak up for herself and what she needs as well as when she is uncomfortable. Now, the romance in this book was soooo good! I loved that we had bi, demi, and pan representation and that they were all portrayed in such a thoughtful way. The way that Ren explained how his sexuality impacted his own romantic encounters was fantastic! I love the way that this series shows people using the terms that they are comfortable with to describe their sexuality, but also recognizes that there is additional nuance because sexuality can be experienced in so many different ways. I loved the way that Ren and Audrey could both take control in spicy scenes and that they were both so good at and comfortable with dirty talk. It seems like a lot of books focus on masculine characters doing dirty talk and praise, but Audrey was awesome. I also really appreciated that Ren was so great about Audrey’s body image struggles. Pointing out that her body had done so many amazing things and not just making it sexual was absolutely perfect. Lastly, I just have to say that I really loved Princess Leia. I felt like she had such a big personality and the way that she and Piper bonded so quickly was adorable. The jokes about Piper cat-napping Leia were hilarious. I would give this book and this series a million stars if I could. I absolutely love every minute of reading it and I know I will be reading it all again! Thank you Katie Duggan for this amazing series and I cannot wait to read more of it. ... show more

  • new favorite author
Format: Kindle
Everything about this story had me OBSESSED from the beginning. The character voices are so funny and relatable, this feels like I’m listening to people I know tell stories in real life. Writing is 10000/10. The characters are all so, so lovable and imperfect. This story has everything a gal could want- spicy content creator, single mom, friends to lovers, found family, healing, and just GOOD emotional catharsis written with care. And the spice… yes. Just a whole lot of yes, the whole time, from everyone involved. This is one of those books I was already sending recs to friends about before I was even halfway through. A really refreshing rom com and perfect introduction to a new favorite author of mine! This was an ARC read, and is my honest review. ... show more

  • On My Side gets ♾️⭐️ and 1🎹
Format: Kindle
I am so honored to have received this ARC. Katie is one of my auto-read authors, and their first book (From the Start) is one of my comfort reads. I have been feral from the teasers and snippets that have been posted and now… (angelic chorus) Anyway, WHEN I TELL U IM OBSESSED WITH THEM The beta readers did not lie. Ren and Audrey are HOT. They are H0RNY. Katie you have done it again!!!!!! I think Ren has surpassed Josh Henry in my book boyfriend roster, but JUST barely. I think it’s his pathetic neediness tbh. Tho I could be in a Audren sandwich and I would NOT be mad about it. She is Mommy™ 🙂↕️ Also, I love that even tho Audrey is older than Ren, that hasn’t been brought up as an issue for their relationship. Audrey is concerned about her reputation and bringing Ren down, not the fact that she’s older. And Piper, you silly little sausage. In single parent romances, the kiddo(s) don’t always get a lot of air time, but Piper is a full fledged delight and menace to society. Tropes: Reverse age gap Single mom Small New England town (highly recommend reading while on the East Coast for maximum vibes) The h0rniest dry humping scene I have ever read And, naturally, he 🏁 in his pants “Good girl/boy” “Heck it” MDD rep!!!!!! (Ft. Therapy and meds!!!!!!!!!!) Autism rep!!! Demi/pan/bi rep!!!!! TW: Depression things Discussion of abortion Teen pregnancy (past) Body image things Religious trauma Missing pet (IT’S OKAY THEY FIND HER) Implied ED of a side character??? Thank you Katie so so much for the ARC ❤️ ... show more

  • Another beautiful book in the Quiblings series!
Format: Kindle
On My Side just might be my favorite Quiblings novel yet! See beginning of the book for content warnings. It’s no secret that I am in love with this book series. I absolutely love the way Katie Duggan does the representation in her books. They put so much care into this aspect of their writing and it always feels so authentic, never that it’s there just to be there. Ren and Audrey’s story was so beautifully written. Their communication is some of the best I’ve ever read, both in and out of the bedroom (another aspect of Katie’s writing that she does so well). I especially love that Ren has been in love with Audrey for years and his feelings for her have only grown over time, and how it felt so natural that he became a father figure to Piper. Like the previous two Quiblings books, this book is very SPICY, which was to be expected due to the nature of Ren’s side hustle (if you want to know what it is, it’s in the synopsis). I felt it added to the intrigue of the story, especially once Audrey figured out that Ren was Sky. I especially love that she was always able to separate Ren from Sky and saw Ren for who is as a person and not his online persona. Thank you so much Katie for the eARC! Ren and Audrey truly are so special and I’m excited for more Quiblings books (I’ve got my guess for who the next book is about narrowed down to two people). ... show more
