I grabbed this size for it's pass through capabilities and it seemed to be capable of doing anything I might need. I've had it a month now and joined an official Omtech community on Facebook and I've had a blast with this since. Cuts 1/8 plywood, MDF, and acrylic easily. I've done 1/4 plywood and MDF as well with little effort. I know it can engrave slate and rubber but I have yet to master that. Now, EVERYONE in the Omtech community strongly recommended a few upgrades. If you are looking at this or any of the bigger models in the line up, consider buying an inline fan and replace the one it comes with. A 6 inch will work perfect. The fan it comes with keeps up with small and easy tasks but it doesn't take much to generate more fumes than the fan can move. Next, a chiller for the water cooling. Water in a bucket again will work for casual use. But if this is possibly a business for you, grab a chiller. The 3rd big upgrade would be air assist. It comes with a little aquarium air pump. They are known to die and don't put out enough air to squash flame up when cutting. This results in more char on your objects. Hooking up the laser to a better compressor will give you cleaner cuts and allow for thicker materials to be cut. These costs will add another $1000 so keep it in mind when shopping for any of these lasers. Other than that, the possibilities are endless. ... show more

We received this laser on Nov 16, 2022. Once it was all set up it seemed to be working great. Ended up having an issue when attempting to cut mirror acrylic. So, I went ahead and did a mirror alignment. Got the mirrors all aligned, then came more problems. Although the laser to lens/ bed worked fine, it will not cut or engrave at all. Doesn't make sense right? Contacted the seller, sent videos and photos. They determined the laser tube needed to be replaced. We got the new laser tube and got it installed, ran the same alignment tests and got the same results. To date (Dec 1, 2022) we have only been able to use our laser for 4 days before we started having issues. We are a small business and this is hurting us during the busiest time of the year. We also reached out to OMTech via a phone number on their website. No help. Just kept being told we were being put in the queue for a callback, that never came. I'm giving it aside few days, if my problem is not resolved, I will be returning this machine. ... show more

    • OMTech uses extremely slow delivery service (> 2 weeks to travel 30 miles)

My expected delivery date was over 2 weeks ago even though the package originated just 33 miles from its destination! I ordered from OMTech since they are a local company but they are not taking any responsibility for the delay. Think twice before ordering from them.
