  • Great little set
Material Type: Metal
Only problem is the saw cut through the metal miter box

  • Perfect for cutting wooden arrows
Material Type: Metal
Saved me from buying a 200 dollar arrow saw. I’m not sure it would work for carbon or aluminum, but it’s perfect for wood shafts.

Perfect tool and worked like a charm for making window screens. Now if I could just get out there and finish the job I could get my wife off my @**. All the best!

  • Nice kit

This is super nice for small and accurate cuts. Think hobby size. I'm happy with it.

  • Does the job
Material Type: Metal
This miter box has three fixed angles, so if one has a 27 degree or 52 degree cut they need to make, they will have to improvise. The interior width is 2", so there is a degree of options with a small piece of wood. The saw is fine and thin, so wood will not be wasted doing the cutting. And it cuts balsa wood very nicely. I had purchased a kit that turned out to be missing some pieces of wood. Returning it for a refund was not realistic, as there were no substitutes. So I got the pieces of wood that were necessary, and used the miter box to make the necessary cuts. Since one cannot get just a couple of pieces, I had wood left over so I constructed a trestle bridge for my developing train set. It is simple to build, and the miter box had all the angles I needed. The engine in the picture was built in 1948. The saw is very thin, as are the slots so one needs to take their time and not simply expect to slap in the saw. One side is quite flat to place the wood upon, and on the other side there is a slight bevel, which would be good for sawing a dowel. There is also a V notch going down the middle for larger dowels. The aluminum frame seems quite sturdy. The whole thing comes in a clamshell, so if cut carefully, one has a nice storage box afterwards. ... show more

  • Works
Material Type: Metal
I needed something smaller than my 12" miter saw and plastic miter saw to cut 1/4 round for the wood floors I installed. I took a chance. This works as intended. The saw cut nicely with a smooth finish. The plastic miter saw box I have allows a 45 cut to the left and right. This has a 60, 90 and 45 degree cut, so you have to make sure that you are on the 45 (I cut a 60 without realizing it). This is probably the biggest drawback if you are using it to cut/installed 1/4 round. Also, the metal is soft and if you don't make sure that you are in the slot, you will cut it. The one I received seemed to have bent and it was difficult to get the saw in the slot. For the price it works. ... show more

  • One of the most useful tools I've bought
Material Type: Metal
I do alot of woodworking and occasionally I use small decorative trim. Shelve edges cabinet trim, ect. Problem is, my 12" miter saw tends to tear up small delicate trim. I've been thinking about a small miter box for a while now. Since I was adding some small trim with our kitchen remodel, I thought it was a good excuse to pick this up. So happy with my purchase. I've made about 20 some cuts on some little trim and really happy how this cuts and how the joints all line up perfectly. Not going to say every cut was fine finish, that's just not realistic, but the cuts were good and a little sanding cleaning them up easily. The trim was pine and it cut fast and easy. Don't know why any one is saying it takes a while to cut. Might take a little more for hardwoods, but again, that is to be expected. Sure not a reason to knock the product. Unless you did get a dull one. Also, can't believe some one knocked this because it will wear out. Really? It's a saw and you are sawing on/in a metal box, both are going to wear out. That's what happens. Again, NOT a reason to take off stars. Not fair to the product. My only criticism is, I wish it had a way to mount it. Rather not have to hold the box and the piece being cut at the same time. I did mount it to the old counter top with a clamp, and that worked for the most part. I'll probably drill some holes to be able to mount it. Just would be nice if the manufacturer did that already, it would only improve a great tool. For the price, I am really happy with the purchase. Will buy again if/when it wears out, as it will eventually. That's what happens. One last thing, don't forget, there are not two 45 degree angles on this, one is 45 the other is 60. Duh moment for me when the first 90 corner did not match up. Not a problem with the product, my problem for nothing thinking or paying attention. ... show more

  • Hobby size, light duty, decent
Material Type: Metal
As stated in description, it is a small mitre box (6-1/2" long). I bought it to use for cutting 1/4 Round molding but soon found that it was a little undersized for my use. That being said, it is of pretty decent quality and it did work ok for those. For any larger jobs it would be questionable how it would perform. Another note, maybe some didn't realize (took me a minute to notice) is that it is a "pull" saw, meaning you pull towards you for cutting. Once I figured that out it worked pretty nicely. At first it didn't seem like it was going to work well but once I figured out that the saw teeth are reversed from a normal saw it cut nicely. Overall I would recommend it for Hobbies, very light duty use such as Balsa woods, model building, light plastics, and the like. I think the accuracy would be pretty decent as the cutting slots are very narrow and the saw fits well, without being sloppy. One additional note and one thing I didn't care for so much was the lack of a 45 degree slot in the opposite direction. That would have been nice to have. That makes it a little less convenient to use. ... show more
