My wife purchased this ice maker. It Arrived fast and perfect condition. I have to say after Testing it for 3 days it works perfect.. Its amazing what you can get for 50 dollars. Just some notes and my real thoughts at the end. IF you want Ice all day for your drinks you need to start it before 9 am. Its Slow at making 9 small cubes about every 15 min? IF you have some small ice trays and a freezer would be much easier and 50 times faster.. But if your in a Dorm room or small space it can make ice for maybe 2 people but it does not keep it cold so it will melt and recycle the water. once the small tray is full it stops making ice till you empty it and its slowly melting because it does not keep it frozen. I have other options that work much faster and without supervision. Now this machine does work and works flawless. MY PROBLEM is you have to add water and remove the ice about every 2 hours. I was not looking to get another JOB or hire a full time person to make sure I have ice on hand. ... show more

I bought this as an impulse buy one night. I have been buying bagged ice as I still am yet to own a fridge with an ice maker attached(rich people goals haha) and I am so glad I did. This baby started making ice in like 6 minutes. I have had it for over a month and it’s run constantly since. It’s small enough to not take up too much room on your counter. It isn’t super noisy. There’s def a motor sound and the clinking ice takes some time to adjust to in the middle of the night but it’s an ice maker… it makes ice. I use the small cube size. I don’t know how the large size looks. Has a little scoop. The light flashes when it’s low on water. I went and bought 5 big jugs at Aldi and I’m still using them weeks later so it doesn’t take a whole lot of water to run. We probably make 4 cups with ice a day. The productivity of this ice maker is great, but because of this it quickly covers the full sensor and stops production, if you can remember to check it or empty the basket often it will provide you with plenty of ice. For the price it's a great ice maker. I have read past reviews about it being very noisy, I don't find it noisy at all. When it drops the ice in the basket there's a slight knock but it's great for remembering to check it, if you don't hear it for awhile chances are you are probably blocking the sensor and need to check on it. If it wasn't for this blockage issue I would have given it a 5 star rating ... show more

I knew from reading reviews that this machine doesn't stay cold enough to store the ice after all the water has been used. What I didn't read anywhere was that it doesn't stay cold enough to completely freeze the ice at all. The ice is very wet when it drops, so the receptacle needs to be emptied immediately to avoid melting - every 6 minutes. Even with that diligence, the ice is wet enough that it ends up freezing in clumps that have to be broken apart with a tool. (The ambient temp was 68 when I tested this, so the results could be even worse in hotter spaces.) The next issue is that the machine does not quite make the pound of ice per hour that it claims. Using the large setting, the machine makes the equivalent little more than your basic ice cube tray per hour, which came in under a pound for me. Considering that this small amount of ice requires 10 trips to the kitchen to empty the receptacle, plus having to hack the ice apart later when it freezes in a clump, this process is less efficient than filling and cracking trays. If small ice is your goal, it would take an hour and 40 minutes to generate the same amount of ice using the small setting. And, of course, there's electricity cost, noise, and cleaning the machine to be considered. Since I have a tiny kitchen but plenty of freezer space, it will be better for me to buy more trays than to dedicate counter space to an inefficient machine. However, I could see this being great for someone who does not have enough freezer space to make ice in trays. The machine's ideal usage would be on demand - make enough ice to fill your drink and then turn it off. ... show more

    • Returned - handle doesn't work, ice always melting

In my review, I will address: - ice quality - user friendliness - speed -sound -durability -safety This was my first ice maker and it is lower on the end of price and I didn't know what to expect (except ice of course). Out of the box it's really easy to use. Plug it in, add some water, set ice size and wait a few minutes. It makes ice...as expected. It's pretty fast - 10 pieces in a few minutes, and the reservoir fills up within an hour or so. Ice quality: Small ice is pretty small, big ice is also pretty small. I couldn't really see much difference. Ice is thin, very thin. Like my little yorkie can bite it really easily (actually loves it). It has no integrity and melts instantly in your glass turning your drink to a watered down version within minutes. It's like an ice shell, not an ice cube. Did not love that at all. Unfortunately, this ice maker has very little capacity to keep the ice cold so it all melts. You have to turn it back on in order for it to make more ice. You might have ice in there for awhile and it'll keep making more but for some reason that I haven't figured out, if you haven't interacted with it for awhile, the ice melts, it shuts off and you have no ice. And while you do have ice, it's constantly melting so often you'll come and you'll have half melted ice to add to your drink that then immediately melts upon hitting your water or whatever. Other than my reasons listed below for finally needing to return this item, this here (ice not holding up) would have caused me to return it anyway. User friendliness: As I said earlier, it's super easy to use. You dump water in the reservoir (about 2 cups), close it, push two buttons and it's making ice. The instruction book is pretty clear, no issues. There's a little ice scoop in there that you get your ice out and it's a good size - enough to scoop ice for a regular glass full. Speed: Once you put the water in, and push the buttons, it makes ice pretty immediately. In fact every time you take ice out, it starts making more. A red button comes on when the ice compartment is supposedly full. Sound: I'm not sure what I expected but this ice making is kind of loud. And it senses when it needs to make more ice so it's constantly coming on and off. A bit distracting and a few times I've thought my house is haunted until I remember it's the ice maker. I don't spend a lot of time in the kitchen so it doesn't bother me too badly but others may not love that. Durability: Please note that nowhere in the manual does it state that the handle does not function or to not use the handle when the ice maker is full. I looked. It's not there. I put the handle on the ice maker after it was full of water and ice. I tried to transport it from one counter to another. The handle immediately broke and the ice maker fell onto the floor. Water and ice everywhere. The ice maker housing cracked and broke a piece off and I had to sort of put it all back together because the housing had slipped off a bit. I wasn't sure it would work after that. I put it back on the counter, put the cosmetic handle back on it, filled it back up and it worked. For about a week. After that, it just leaked water onto my counter. Do not use the handle. Not even when it's empty. It's flimsy, not permanent and a ridiculous item that wasn't intended for use.
