This binding machine was selected because of its simple design, versatility, and ease of use. Upon opening the box, I could tell the machine was made of quality materials; the base and handle are made from metal, and the shell was made from a thick plastic. The kit also included a box of 100 3/8in comb binding spines. Following the provided directions easily taught the use of the machine. From crimping the oil cleaning sheet to applying the combs and snipping off the excess, the project seemed simple. The only item that required assembly was attaching the side operating lever with a single screw knob. No tools required. Placing the maximum of 12 sheets of paper into the forward slot and quickly pulling down on the handle neatly punches the required rectangular holes in the paper without tearing. Placing the plastic binding comb in the top teeth and pushing the lever forward spreads the teeth on the binding spines open so the paper can easily be inserted into the binding. Releasing the lever allows the binding spine to clasp around the paper. A small drawer that is removable from the side collects the rectangular punch holes left from the punching stage. On the back of the machine is the margin slider that selects how deeply the paper slides into the machine for punching. On the base is an orange plastic side guide to align the paper entering the machine. The metal base has surface-printed simplified instructions in case the manual is misplaced. The manual has both English and German text. The maximum paper size is 11 inches or letter size, with smaller A4 and A5 sizes also accommodated. The sharpness and design of the blade neatly perforate the pages without tearing. The coils allow the pages to lie flat, which makes for easier reading. This machine will allow my son to organise his drawings into a book form that can be shared with others. Add-on uses: Homemade calendars, Recipe collections, Journals, colouring books, and employee handbooks. Opinion: This seems to be a well-made machine that should have a good service life based on its materials. The 100-comb sample box should be ample for our uses for a while. If this is something you need, this one should be a good choice.

This binding machine is a good value for the money, with the punch / binder and 100 3/8" black combs. I like that this is a comb binder rather than a spiral binder. The 3/8" comb held about 40 pages with thicker front and back covers, which was perfect for putting together the booklets I needed for church. This is a nice, compact, binding machine. It is not lightweight, being assembled mostly of steel. It is durably assembled and not something to drop on your toes! It is easy to punch 10 pages at a time, but I noticed that sometimes there was a little shift of the holes, which made for some imperfect alignment when assembling. But for what it is, it is fully functional. I am looking forward to putting together some calendars for our family using this binding machine. This will be a big time saver, and a lot more professional than using a slip cover or staples.

This is great for my work reports, its super easy to use and the quality of the cut is nice and pristine. Make sure you read the instructions, because if you use this before doing the test punches you may get machine oil on your pages, I thought that was a nice helpful touch to include that along with the cardboard to test punch on. Its Nice and Solid, all metal construction, the only portion that was plastic was the screw that holds the handle in place, it's not used to anchor it, the handle actually has a metal cavity and fits nice and snug over the metal lever portion. This is an excellent value for the money, because this can be used for students reports as well. I like that it has a place for the discarded punches to go and its easy to slide out and empty when you are finished using it. It comes with plenty of binders to use, and I like that they are ones you can pick up easily if you need more. I'm pleased with this item, its build quality and although you cannot punch a large booklet at the same time, with its alignment and placement markings, I was able to punch out 72 pages ( in stages) and bind them together without an issue everything was aligned without issue!

Got this primarily to make little character packets for my gaming group, and it is working out perfectly for that. The machine is simple to use, but a video showing everything would have been way better than the printed instructions. Took me a couple tries, but eventually I got it! The machine comes with the handle unattached. Took me longer than it should have to get that thing installed. I appreciated the test sheet that was included--it not only cleaned off the cutting blades, but it helped me figure out how to adjust the margins for the holes. The design is very simple and there is nothing flashy or extra here--everything serves a purpose, no more no less. I like that as well--keeps the unit compact and easy to store, easy to maintain and easy to use. Comes with a box of about 200 small spiral spines, but the machine can accommodate much larger spines so you are not limited to tiny booklets less than 20 pages thick. You can reuse the spines as well, so it is going to be a LONG time before I run out of them! This claims to be able to cut a dozen pages at a time. I got up to 8 and it seemed to struggle, so I did not attempt to go higher. It can handle cardstock, so making a cover for my booklets will be possible. Seems durable and at $45 (time of this review) an awesome value for the functionality of this machine.
