I have made over a hundred pieces of furniture using cherry, tiger maple, birds eye maple, and highly figured cherry. I like wipe on finishes that avoid a "plastic" coating look. I have mostly used a formula of several coats of thinned Polyurethane and linseed oil that is put on and wiped off. I tried Odie's oil and it produces a great rubbed finish in far less time. It is beautiful. I have tried sanding the finish once one coat was applied (to correct a mistake - not due to the finish) and found that the oil penetration was deep into the surface. I have tried testing for water spotting, and it does not provide total protection when I left a glass of water on it overnight, but it is as good as my prior mix of poly and oil. I checked a coffee table top made of a slab of curly cherry after a year of daily hard use and it looked as good as when first finished. If I'm not looking for a gloss finish, this is now my go-to product. Two coats is plenty, and I see no difference in finish by using their "butter" product or wax. ... show more

I also love Watco Danish Oil, which I typically start with in 2 coats. Then I top that with 2 rubbed in treatments of Odie's Oil, which gives a lovely, slightly warm luster to the wood that I love. It's a bit more protective, and can always be reapplied if needed. The ease of application, the minimal amount required, its non-toxicity, the wax sheen and look it gives make it my favorite final finish step for any wood. ... show more

And I will go ahead and use it when I restore some mcm pieces I have in my dining room. But I dislike the scent greatly. The scent doe’s definitely fade a lot after it has dried down. But it smells like lavender. And I’m sure lavender is used for good reason, not for scent, but I hate lavender. Like really, really hate the smell of lavender. When I noticed reviews and some videos raving about the scent I honestly assumed it was probably citrusy, bc orange oil, lemon oil, etc have traditionally been used on furniture. Lavender was really shocking, and disappointing. And while I will not waste the $45 i spent on this, I will not buy more in the future. I will simply pony up for a quality tung oil and maybe a good solvent free wax. ... show more

Olie's oil produces a rich matte sheen that really allows the beauty of the wood grain to be seen. It's priced in line with the competition, but at $5.00 per ounce it's not cheap. It is easy to apply and buff out. When combined with Odie's Wax the result is a durable water-resistant finish. Their claimed application coverage needs to be taken with a huge grain of salt. I guess if your objective was to apply one drop of Odie's Oil to a piece of wood and then spend the rest of the day seeing how much coverage you could achieve it might be possible, but in my woodworking projects time is of the essence and I don't have a lot of patience about spreading it on as thinly as possible. ... show more

This is amazing. I purchased this to try it on a table I refinished, I wanted something that would enhance the natural wood without having to stain. This is a table I stripped and sanded, I just applied this and that’s how it turned out. It’s beautiful, smooth and so far water resistant.
