  • I love this guitar!
Color: Vintage Sunburst
Just received it today. Been playing since 1974. Have had many different guitars throughout the years. The price is right. The finish is beautiful. The sound is fine. The string spacing on the nut and bridge saddle are spot on. The frets are polished and rounded. All I had to do was a simple truss rod adjustment and lower the string height. (the sturdy soft case comes with an allen key for the truss rod and a small cord!) It's already perfectly intonated. A joy to play all over the neck. Every chord is in tune everywhere. There are a few issues, but for the economy of instrument and the fact I bought it to fix up, can be understood. The pick guard was cocked way too high at the chrome brace so I lowered it by removing it and drilling another hole in the brace. The little bolt for the brace under the pickguard was a little too long so I cut it and filed it down smooth. I noticed a small area under the pickguard at the neck screw hole was unfinished. The bridge pickup mounting ring is cocked so the pickup is tilted. Can replace with a another when I upgrade the pickups. Doesn't seem to effect the sound much. I am impressed at the workmanship and detail given. Especially the setup. (I've found that's not common in many economy guitars) The tuners are efficient. The neck is comfortable to play. The clean sounds and the pure beauty of this guitar are awesome. Haven't stopped playing it all day! Literally. I love this guitar! Thank you Grote BTW I already named it. Groot. ❤️ ... show more

  • Well worth consideration
Color: Black
GROTE Guitar Solid Body Electric Guitar with Gig bag LPYS-006 (Black) This is the fourth Grote guitar for my collection, and I was very happily disappointed upon inspecting the guitar. I was all prepared to swap out the tuners, nut and strings, perform some fret work and do a full setup. Reality check, out of the box the binding, finish and hardware fitment were flawless. I tuned the guitar and the tuners worked fine, the string height at the nut was right-on (as low as possible), the neck had very slight and desired amount of out-bow, the action was set low, and the intonation was near perfect. The frets were shiny, the fretboard smooth and the over action high speed low drag. The only setup items requiring attention were raise the low E string 1/64" at the bridge and raise the bridge pickup 3/32". The pickups overall sound bright and the neck pickup measured 9.37K ohms @ 3.29H Henrys and the bridge 11.77K ohms @ 3.62H henrys. This guitar is well worth consideration given its price. ... show more

  • Quality and price.
Color: Vintage Sunburst
I have been playing for over 50 years, owned every name brand out, and I have to say I am really impressed with this Grote, the one I received needed very minor adjustments for my style of playing, But you do need to throw the strings away, the fret work was really nice no high frets intonation was right on, I did need to raise the pickups to LP specs, and adjust the relief for my playing, but right out of the box, Plays great, no buzz or bloody fingers,I also tightened the threads up on the bridge, I have to say it is very well made and the finish is beautiful, and too me worth every penny, I was given nothing for this review, just my honest opinion. ... show more

  • Great Guitar if properly set up
Color: Purple
Pros: Amazing value for the money. Very well built guitar especially for the money. I've been playing for well over 20 years at a high level. the finish is gorgeous and the frets are smooth and comfortable. perfect binding. The tuners hold tune and are tight. Rosewood fretboard is gorgeous and the pearl was done properly. After I set it up the tone is great and the pickups are hot for what they are, perfect for a beginner to intermediate player. I will however be swapping them for a higher end pickup. Pick guard was solid and thick, I replaced mine for aesthetics only. The veneer top, while it doesnt look real it looks great. Cons: loose bridge and tail piece screws. you can fix this however with copper tape. pickups are slightly microphonic at times but not too bad. plastic nut. cheap plastic knobs (I swapped mine for some white ones I had on hand) the switch cover on the front is glued to the body and can not be changed. Do not buy if you arent experience in setting up the action, bridge and pickup height. not playable out of the box so beginners do not buy unless you have a friend who is really good at setup. ... show more

  • Impressive guitar !
Color: TS
When I unboxed the Grote LP I couldn’t find one blemish on the entire guitar! The finish is amazing. The knobs and switches feel solid and the frets are rounded on the ends. The action is very low with zero buzz! The sound to me is incredible! Only 2 days in and I already ordered new tuners. The stock ones are sloppy and don’t keep tune long. All in all what a great value! ... show more

  • GROTE LES PAUL STYLE
Color: Vintage Sunburst
This is kinda unbelievable but I'm not getting paid for my opinion but my son and I own high end fenders and gibsons, Taylor's and Takamine so I know a well made guitar. I purchased this Grote LP style electric beauty for my nephew who is a beginner well, after it was delivered and I opened the box which was poorly fit for it and it wasn't inside the gig bag that came with it and I Don't understand that but my first look at it blew me away! It's a Les Paul clone from the 80's !! It's got the binding and the high gloss paint job but then I see the neck is roasted and it has STAINLESS STEEL FRETS!! the tuners are quality made but the very best thing is the action is so low with no fret buzz AT ALL!! IT SOUNDS FANTASTIC !!! It's really quite unbelievable for the price. I think China copied the old Les Paul to a tee! It's needles to say, I ordered my nephew another one because this one seriously plays like the $1800. Dollar old school Les Paul and I am keeping it and it's my go to guitar and I'm very particular about what I play. I highly recommend this company "Grote" I'm going to see what others they might have. You won't be sorry with these badass guitars. ... show more
