  • Broke, but replaced with extra
I ordered these wheels and they worked well for a while, but two of them broke where they meet the floor. Called customer service. They said that happens sometimes due to manufacturing process and sent me three new ones to be safe. I had looked around for other 4" wheels, but they're really hard to find or really expensive. 3" is much more common. I find that 4" works better. 3" is a bit hesitant some times. I was disappointed that they broke, but customer service really came through. Bottom line, there is a slight risk that these may break. If you see bits of plastic on the floor, that's likely what happened. Call customer service and you're good. ... show more

  • Roll like a dream...
Took other review's advice and also ordered a metal base so these wouldn't break the plastic chair base I had. Got it all installed in about 15 minutes. They roll like a dream on carpet! Unless there is a problem, these wheels are awesome over carpet or with a soft plastic chair pad. They might be a bit FAST (and loud) on something solid like hardwood floors or other hard floors. They are made of the typical plastic most dual rollers are made of so they will make roller noise on a hard surface. In my case, I raised my large desk up about 7+ inches to be a standing desk and the drafting chair I've always used is now raised to almost its max height. The physics is just too much for smaller wheels and it's hard to move the chair sitting that high up. These 4" wheels are perfect. Frankly, I should have thought of using them years ago. ... show more

  • These wheels have no bearings on the top of the caster
Unlike most office chair caster wheels, these casters have no bearings on their top axle. For the wheel to spin on that axis, the mounting shaft has to turn in the hole. Take a close look a the top of the caster and compare it to other office chair casters and you will see what I mean. That metal shaft does not swivel inside the caster - it is fixed. For the caster to change direction, the shaft must rotate inside the chair base, which the chair designers almost certainly did not mean for it to do. I purchased a set of these wheels for my Herman Miller Aeron chair. I use the chair on a short pile carpet. I use the chair for many hours each day. Though the wheels roll well, I find it difficult to reposition the chair because the casters do not like to swivel in the chair base. I've had these wheels now for almost 4 months, and am seriously considering replacing them because of this issue. ... show more

  • Great casters
I have a Corsair T1 Gaming chair, and the hydraulic rod at the base of the chair extends down fairly far. The wheels that came with the chair were the roller blade style wheel, with the ball bearings in between two conical type disks. Those wheels lasted about 2 weeks. They didn't spin very well, which caused the wheel to bend at the joint, which bent the conical disks and the bearings fell out until the wheels just broke. I called for replacements and they were going to send me the same wheel type, so I asked that they send a different type. Which they did, but they were not tall enough. Nor is basically any other wheel out there. These larger wheels did the trick and they glide very well. Quick to pivot when I need to change my seat angle. Would recommend 10/10 to anyone looking for new casters. ... show more

  • Works on medium pile padded carpet
Like another reviewer, replaced Herman Miller Aeron chair casters with these. The floor surface is a medium pile (1/4" to 1/2") carpet with what is likely mediocre padding underneath. I had a carpet protector which worked well for years with the standard casters, but as it gets older it gets brittle and cracks - and a crack in the right place is the worst kind of pothole; and of course, if you roll off the protector its a pain too. So rather than look for a new protector I looked at new casters. These 4" casters are perfect on my carpeted floor. Granted, it is not as easy/smooth as if you had rollerblade casters on a hardwood floor, but it is possible to roll the casters on carpet without tremendous effort - no unsightly mat required. ... show more

  • Riding high!
Really glad I went with these casters. I put them on my Herman Miller Aeron chair which, at its maximum height, is about 1 inch shorter than it should be for me to sit comfortably at my desk. These 4 inchers really did the trick. They're sturdy, high quality, and they roll very smoothly across carpet and hard floors, though I use mine on an acrylic chair mat. To be honest they roll a bit too smoothly, and I find myself drifting if I push off of something too hard. ... show more

  • A nice replacement wheel.
Standard chair wheel plastic, so they might hurt a softer-wood floor - but I use them in my cement warehouse office floor. Despite a (now worn) layer of epoxy paint from about 3-4 years ago, this floor has eaten three sets of standard desk wheels. Worn them to flat. This larger size wheel rolls very nicely, moves smooth. Like an off-road chair wheel? No longer getting stuck in the tiny canyons. I recommend them, for any hard floor. Would be good on carpet, too, as I think the height would keep fibers out of the axles better. (May have to get a set for my carpet-bound desk chair at home, come to think of it...) It does raise the base of the chair up two inches also. Only took a day to get used to not putting my feet on the now-higher legs, like I had been doing. Make sure your chair lowers another 2 inches, so you can still get it under your desk. ... show more
