  • Punches way above its weight.
Color: Black
It's been a few years now at this point since I ditched gamer-centric headsets in favor of quality mic's and quality headphones. I have been running a really great sounding XLR mic into my audio interface, and the sound quality is unmatched. BUT, the mic I have been using also requires me to get right on top of it to pick up my voice well, and to add further frustrations, I also use the same audio interface regularly for tracking guitar and other instruments. It's not a huge deal, but it can be irritating when I have to jump on a quick Zoom call only to realize that my guitar is still plugged in rather than my mic. So I started trying out different USB mics instead in an attempt to simplify things for if I am just gaming or jumping on a video conference call for work. With that in mind, I still wanted something that was not overly sensitive to the point where it would pick up every sound in the room, and I also still wanted to sound good. I have tried quite a few, many of which were ok, but they always had a tradeoff. Enter the Capsule Elite. This mic comes in cheaper than some of the others I have tried, and to my surprise, it surpasses all of them. Not only does it look and sound great, but it is also dead simple to set up and use, and the versatility that it brings to the table is really great. Setting up is as easy as plugging in a USB C cable. That's it. Once you get the NZXT Cam software installed you are up and running. The software gives you a fair amount of control in terms of the EQ settings and some other things like setting the noisegate thresholds, and a plosives filter. It can also deaden room noise to a certain extent. You can also control the RGB lights on it from here. The mic is well constructed and does not feel cheap. Materials are mostly plastic, but everything lines up nicely, and it has a nice heft to it. The included desk stand is pretty good too: the base is nice and heavy, and before putting this on a boom arm, I was impressed at how sturdy it is. There is a knob for controlling the level of the mic that can also be pushed in like a button to mute yourself. There is also a knob on the side for controlling the volume of the headphone output on the back of the mic. Speaking of this, this mic has a 3.5mm headphone port on the back that serves as kind of a built-in DAC. This is the best way to use it if you want to take advantage of sidetone as it gives you latency free monitoring of your own voice in the mix without having to rely on software solutions like ASIO drivers. This feature is where a lot of other mics fell short for me, but I am pleased to report that audio quality on the Capsule Elite is really very good. Audio clarity was just as good as through my audio interface, and I have been using this for playing COD WZ and other games and have been very happy with the results. The mic itself is also pretty great. It sounds good and doesn't color my voice at all with the right settings, and messing with the EQ can yield some pretty great results. Does it sound as good as my expensive XLR mics? No. But it shouldn't. What it DOES do is a great job of picking up your voice that is still miles ahead of any headset-based mic. According to the people I play with, my voice sounded a bit different than normal, but still very very good. I am also happy that this frees up my audio interface for just recording. As you can imagine, I am pretty pumped about this mic. I love the added simplicity for every day tasks like video conferencing and gaming. For the price, this is about as good as it gets in my opinion. The mic looks and sounds great, and has all of the options you need. ... show more

  • My old microphone should be embarassed
Color: Black
I ordered this product in black, but received the white one...and it's so good that I'm STILL rating it 5 stars. For reference, my microphone before this was the HyperX QuadCast, which is pretty similarly priced to the NZXT, so it's not like I'm amazed by this microphone because I've only ever used terrible ones. With the QuadCast, my friends often complained about background noise and reverb, to the point where I got a big foam housing for it to try and counteract the problem. It's not a bad mic, but you really do need to have a recording studio setup to use it, and most people - including me - don't have that. This NZXT Capsule mic, on the other hand, feels like it's designed for people without optimal recording environments. It filters out background noise amazingly, and there's absolutely no reverb. It did better than the QuadCast even though the QuadCast had that foam box around it, while this one has nothing like that. It also seems to know when you're talking directly into it, and will only pick up audio when you're doing so. So if you were, say, just sitting silently tapping away at your keyboard while on a call, it won't transmit the sound of the keyboard. This is an absolutely killer feature if you live with other people and deal with background noise on a regular basis. Mind you, this is all right out of the box; you don't have to play with settings on the NZXT CAM app or anything, and there's control knobs on the device that let you tweak most settings. The only thing you really need the app for is controlling the RGB lights on the back. So this mic has a crisp, clear sound; it filters out background noise effortlessly; it's got a solid, premium metal construction; and it doesn't take up much space on a desk at all. It's really a standout in its price range, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. I really do wish that I'd gotten the black color I ordered, as it would have looked better in my setup than the white, but honestly, I can't complain too hard. It's way better than I expected, and it has earned its place in the setup. ... show more

  • This Microphone Actually Works Very Well Although I First I Thought It Didn't
Color: Black
This is my Amazon Vine review for the NZXT Capsule Elite - Premium USB Condenser Microphone for Gaming, Streaming, Podcasting, and Recording - Studio-Quality Sound - Multi-Position Design - DTS Software - RGB Lighting - Black. I decided to give this microphone a try because it advertises studio quality full bodied sound recordings. I want it to improve my voice quality over all the background noise. I like the design, metal housing, background noise filters, and suppression. I am excited to test it and see how much difference I hear. I like that it delivers through a USB A cord for desktop PC's and laptops. I edited this review before it ever posted because I could not hear any real difference with this microphone at first, and there were no instructions provided with it. What I just learned today on 5/10/25 is that in addition to going to Settings, selecting this mic software and settings for it, I also needed to go into the installed Microsoft Clip Champ picture and video software to select this mic and do more test recordings there. After doing all that I can truly hear a clear difference. This mic works good to elevate and clarify my voice. Even when I whispered during the test it was still loud and clear. Also, all the fans running in my background are minimized. I can't hear them running in the test recordings. This microphone works well I am happy to share. I deducted one star because there should have been some directions provided even though it is a microphone. More settings than normal were required. Thanks, Amazon. ... show more
