I remember my Grandmother insisting that cod liver oil based vitamin A was essential to keeping the lungs strong and free of respiratory diseases. I used to think that Grandma might be exaggerating a little, with all her enthusiasm about the healing powers found in nature. Until I came down with chronic bronchitis, which lasted for over three years, until the doctor told me they had tried nearly every antibiotic they had. I was living in a highly polluted town in a valley area during those years. At the point the doc told me they were running out of ideas, I was in pretty tough shape because my breathing capacity was in decline, and I coughed so badly every night, all night long, that the lining on my rib cage was becoming torn up. Each cough felt like someone was stabbing my ribs and the pain from the night coughing woke me often through the night. When I finally realized the doctor couldn't help me, I remembered what my grandma said. I bought the vitamin A and I took four of them the first day, and went to one per day after that. The three year bronchitis bout cleared up and was gone within two weeks and has never come back again during the last 40 years. Not too long ago, I came across a medical study of people who had died from lung disease, whether it had been from cigarettes, pollution, or asthma. And the study showed that all these people who had died from respiratory disease, (whether or not they smoked cigarettes) were deficient in vitamin A. My grandma said that the fish based (cod liver oil) based vitamin A was more effective for lungs than the beta carotene (plant based). This vitamin A by NutriCost has the cod liver A, and my lungs are still going strong. Good product! ... show more
