Bought this to replace a Foodsaver I purchased at Wally World. The old vacuum sealer was finicky at best. If you got the bag in just the right position, with one foot off the ground, leaning into the wind with the sun over your left shoulder, it would work great. Otherwise, it was a dice roll. Since I prefer my gambling to stay in Vegas, I immediately tossed that POS in the trash can and moved on with my life. Botulism is a cruel beast and I am not taking any chances with food! Now I am in the market for a vacuum sealer that actually works and was browsing the Amazon site when I came across this little gem from Nutrichef! I couldn't ignore the glowing reviews, so I once again rolled the dice. The vacuum sealer just showed up today, and let me tell you....this is the Tesla of sealers! Sleek black with a nice brushed stainless piece in the center.....sexy! The timing couldn't have been better since I had some chicken, pulled pork and BBQ Beans to seal up and freeze from the weekend. Tried the sealer with some of the quart bags that came with the sealer and all the bags sealed perfectly. The unit is MUCH quieter than the last one I had. I read a tip about leaving the bag in the sealer before pressing the side buttons when it is done sealing for a few seconds to make sure it gets a good seal. I also tried the "Moist" mode on the beans and a bag of the pork and am pleased to report that it also worked flawlessly. I am most pleased with this sealer so far and look forward to sealing some dried ghost peppers and jerky this Summer with it. If anything changes, I will update this review to reflect those changes. Buy this thing now! You won't be disappointed! UPDATE 4-11-23 --- Started having issues with the sealer. First issue was when sealing, right side would pop out of place (almost like the heat was making something expand) and if I pushed it down and it clicked, would pop right back up again. Also, sealer has been quite finicky over the bags I have. Still had some FoodSaver brand bags left over from last sealer and sometimes they work, sometimes they don't (by don't work, I mean will not start sucking air out of the bag). I DID register my vacuum sealer with NutriChef upon receipt and they have extended my warranty, but that is all for nothing if I cannot get ahold of them! I have called the number posted on Amazon as well as on their FB page. If I press 1 for sales, I either get that no one is available to take my call or just silence. If I press 2 for customer service, it hangs up on me immediately (nice!). If they are closed, I get a message saying they are closed and listing the hours in Eastern Time Zone. If I press 0 for the operator (which I have never gotten), it rings for about 15 times then says Thank You for calling Sound Around. Apparently this company is owned by the same company that owns the audio company Pyle. If I go to the Nutrichefkitchen.com website, they have no phone number, but a contact form. I filled this out last week and got a response the next day from Pyle Support. Denise in customer service was incredible and helped me through my issue and replaced the sealer. The new one is working perfectly!

The best addition to the kitchen!! I don't even know why I never bothered to try Vacuum Sealers out!! Numerous benefits, it's like a new favorite toy. Very straightforward out of the box, the key is to make sure the bag is FLAT at both the Air suction zone, as well as the Heat bar. ANY fold or uneven edge can easily turn into an air leak point. This means you have to watch how full you make the bag - you will want at least 1.5" of clearance for the lid to shut tight. Once seating the bag in the suction zone, and ensuring a flat clamp on the heat bar, the suction action is pretty fast, depending on the geometry of the contents. The faster the air sucks out, the better the seating of the bag; Slow, and you may need to redo. I've been sealing Buddha's Hand Lemons, and it's honestly been a gamechanger to vacuum seal, as I can now ship them elsewhere without worrying about spoilage. And at 0.16-.20 cents/ft, these bags are cheap enough to experiment/re-cut/re-seal, but robust enough to reuse. The caveat is that the plastic body of the VS has give to it, when you press down to clamp shut. Also, buttons can be triggered very easily with just a graze of the finger/knuckle, and even the cord itself. Make sure you touch around the buttons when you lock the unit for sealing. Beyond that, I highly recommend the Nutrichef line of VS. I just wish the various aged models were more clearly labeled on Amazon - ie. if someone wanted to get the latest version, you can't really tell, even if you go down to the "First appeared on Amazon in XXXX" (which doesn't always match the ad or the review history).

I wanted to wait until I had used this sealer before writing a review. This way I can give my honest opinion. I have had several sealers over the years and most only lasted about 2 years or less. I have used this NutriChef a lot and haven't had any problems with it. It does a great job of vacuum sealing and pulling out all the air. I like to flash-freeze berries, mushrooms, meats, etc before I seal them. This way you don't have any juices or liquid being suctioned out and making a mess I find that if I lift the bag and keep it level with the machine, it really does a great job! I buy the large rolls of bags and cut and seal them to fit whatever I am sealing. Also, I will make an extra long bag and then seal it at the top and when you want to take out the berries or loose food, just reseal it again. I think this is a well-built machine and a real bargain at this price.
