This wine cooler held the temperature perfectly initially. Tested unit with reliable thermometer and it maintained the temperature within a half-degree with no perceptible noise level. In later tests, it is maintaining a temp about 1 to 2 degrees lower than set. Light works well and I like the lock feature for the control buttons so that no accidental pushes result unwarranted results. The width is smaller than my prior cooler and accommodates the thinner wine bottles well. The larger diameter wine bottles will fit one per rack rather than two side-by-side. There are complaints by others about the handle being difficult to attach, even saying that the seal needs to be removed. The seal does NOT have to be removed, just temporarily held to the side while the screws are inserted. The handle is stainless steel and attractively complements the unit. This wine cooler should best be placed where the handle is not subject to being struck by a passerby's leg as the attachment is to a plastic wall within the door. My daughter accidently struck the handle with her knee and the handle broke the interior plastic making it impossible to reattach. The customer service was incredible!!! They sent us an entire replacement wine cooler rather than to have me deal with replacing the door or having to ship this heavy unit back to them. Wow. Talk about exceeding my expectations!!! I highly recommend this unit for the thin style bottles, or for lower capacity of larger bottles. ... show more

    • PERFECT Wine fridge for small spaces

We just received our new Nutrichef 18 bottle wine fridge. It was delivered perfectly and on time. It took seconds to setup and not long at all until the temperature reached our desired setting then we placed all our bottles into the fridge and it only took about 30 minutes for it to return to the desired temp and since then our wine has been at the perfect temperature every single time we take out a bottle. The unit looks fantastic and fits our small apartment perfectly. It's also very quiet....I literally sit right next to it on our couch and I cannot hear a thing...even when I'm quietly reading a book it's barely audible and does not bother us at all. The only improvement I would recommend is having the ability to turn the bright blue temperature display light off...it's quite bright especially at night, but I appreciate the fact that you want to make sure the temp is staying where you set it to ensure your wine maintains that temp but I would prefer to be able turn the light off and just check on it whenever I want to rather than having that extremely bright light on all the time. That said we LOVE this wine fridge and would highly recommend it!!!! ... show more

Update again: all the way down to 1 star. I worked with customer support (2 day delay for every email) and they sent me a replacement unit to try to address the frequent compressor cycling problem. The new unit is a little quieter and has a vented back panel that my original one didn't have, but it also had a dent in the door and was clearly a refurbished unit. Unfortunately THIS unit started to fail after about a week in a new and different way: the temperature rose well above the set temperature and it wouldn't cool at all until I unplugged it, waited 15 seconds, and plugged it back in. I can't be babysitting my wine fridge. It needs to "just work" all the time, not randomly decide to stop doing anything. I can't recommend this unit to anyone, and I'm giving up on this rather expensive ($200) lesson. It's unfortunate, given the overall design was thoughtful, but the refrigeration mechanics are poor and unreliable at best. Update: I'm dropping my review on this by two stars. The reason is that it truly does become annoying when the compressor turns on EVERY FIVE MINUTES for 20 seconds and then turns off again. It's not loud, but it is grating. I get it that people like to keep the temperature of their wine tightly controlled, but it shouldn't be warming up that much in 5 minutes that the thing needs to turn on again, especially not when fully loaded with wine. Either this unit is defective, or they're overly aggressive about temperature control. It's extremely irritating after a while, and so I don't recommend this unit if you like a generally quiet home. Nice and slim, fits well next to the end of the countertop. The feature to store two bottles of open wine is really nice. It seems to keep a very tight tolerance on temperature, which is a good thing for wine. But it also means it's going to cycle on and off somewhat often. It doesn't need to run for very long when it does though. Noise is similar to what you'd get from a mini fridge. It's a different acoustic profile from the mostly white noise you'd get from a thermoelectric cooler. But it also doesn't need to run for as long, and overall it's a little quieter. Perfect for me needs so far. Pay attention to the instructions and let it sit upright for a couple hours before you plug it in. And take heed of the notice about the temperature controls. auto-locking. ... show more
