I have a very large dehydrator that I use for big jobs. I keep that in my workshop because it is cumbersome and takes up a lot of room. If I have smaller jobs like dehydrating fruit for snacks, this is my preference to use. The footprint is pretty small on my counter but it still holds quite a bit. I really like the clear design of the trays, which allow be to see the progress without opening it up and losing heat. I find the heat is pretty consistent and things don’t need to be moved around much to even out the drying process. It works best when all the trays are used though, even if they aren’t all filled. One thing that wasn’t included was fruit leather trays but silicone inserts are inexpensive and easy to get. If you want to make fruit leather, I recommend picking up a couple. The trays can go in the dishwasher for cleanup which is nice. They fit in the slot my large plates go in. The heat is adjustable for dehydrating different types of things. While it doesn’t specify an exact temperature on the front panel, the manual has setting tips that had everything I needed. This is a good machine for most of what I need to do, preserving garden vegetables, dehydrating fruit and making fruit leather.

I love this food dehydrator. It has certainly been what I’ve needed in order to get my kids to eat more fruits. I can’t make enough, the whole household likes the yummy treats I can make with this. My favorite being turkey jerkey. The dehydration process enhances the original flavors. I like that there are 5 trays that can be stacked on one another- this allows me to dehydrate different foods at the same time or to make a large portion all at once. The trays allow for air flow so that you don’t have to worry about overheating. The temperature is fully adjustable and the trays are dishwashing safe, making clean up easy. So easy to use for great snacks!

The media could not be loaded. When my old food dehydrator died, I thought I could wait to get one. However, the 2 things at I love to make that save me the most money are - “sun” dried tomatoes and a beef jerky type stuff called biltong. Why are sun dried tomatoes so expensive to purchase when they are so easy to make. Tomatoes are mostly water so they do take quite awhile to make but are worth it! I don’t eat much dried fruit but the dehydrator certain can make them. Herbs are easy to grow and I can dehydrate my own knowing exactly what they are and that I used no pesticides or toxic things on them. Super simple and they don’t need a lot of bells and whistles. 5 layers you can reverse for thick or thin. I like to stagger my food to get better circulation. An on/off switch and a dial for low/medium/high heat - that’s it. My tomatoes take 24 hours on high and I slice them pretty thick to give them some substance. I then store them for while on the counter in olive oil to let them soften to a desired texture. You can store in a different oil in the fridge. Dehydrating food is almost addictive. Once you realize you can concentrate the nature sugar in fruit, it’s amazing and a great money saver.

I really like the size of this dehydrator as it’s perfect for doing fruit for my kids as snacks. It has 5 strong, sturdy trays which can be used all at once or only a few depending on how much you’re doing. Very easy to operate and clean and packs away for easy storage. Our favorites are to do strawberry slices but we’ve also had success with bananas and apple slices too.
