This is the perfect little kitchen dehydrator for normal family use. I'm so pleased with this. The controls are simple and easy to understand. Even a kid could easily figure this out. I use this to dehydrate various fruits, which I take to work to munch on. I used to buy dehydrated snacks at Costco, but they got sooooo expensive. Drying my own at home has saved me so much money. It's compact, taking up minimal counter space. As the owner of a relatively small kitchen, I appreciate appliances that take up ad little space as possible. This take up I only as much as a standard toaster. Is so easy to keep clean. Generally a simple wipe out is enough. Sometimes it needs a bit of a sponge wiping. Either way it's easy to keep clean. It barely makes any noise at all. I would almost say it's silent. If you are standing directly over the machine you can just barely hear a light buzzing sound- but just barely. It's virtually un-hearable. It comes with a helpful little booklet to take all the guesswork out of the dehydration process. Once you know which item you want to cook, it tells you how long and at what temperature. There is a scrumptious recipe inside for Smokey Maple Jerky that is absolutely heavenly! ... show more

6/26/20 UPDATE: I've spoken to customer service, but after a series of misunderstandings in the conversation, I've decided to just return the unit through Amazon. It was much more frustrating than it was worth. I've changed my review rating based on the customer service I've received, but unfortunately I do not think this product or company is for me. I JUST purchased this. Per the instructions, I cleaned and prepared the dehydrator for first time use and ran the dehydrator for 30 minutes. I walked away from it after staying around for about 5 minutes to ensure it was on and doing its thing. I come back 20-30 minutes later (I set the dehydrator for an hour since that is the minimum you can turn the knob) and find it completely off. Pressed the on/off button again -- nothing happens. I unplug it and replug it in and was not greeted by the LED screen lighting up nor a beeping sound. Suffice it to say, if there is some sort of first time automatic shut off and cool down period, it is not clearly documented in the manual. Otherwise, I am led to believe that I received a faulty product which is not a great first impression. I will contact customer service and update my review with that experience. ... show more

There are pros and cons for this dehydrator: Good or Bad - you choose! It was much smaller than I anticipated, but that is not a bad thing for me personally. I always found previous dehydrators much larger than my needs. This one is only a little larger than a toaster, but it is large enough for my needs. The timer allows you to set a desired number of hours, but not minutes. Bad The temp control dial is not quite temp control. It does allow you to scroll through a few different temp settings, but you cannot set the unit to a specific temperature. The description states that it comes with a mesh screen and fruit roll sheet. IT DOES NOT! Good It's a good looking unit, as compared to the giant round or black plastic dehydrators that typically you would just hide from view when not in use. I would be comfortable leaving this out year round. For its size, it works very well. It dehydrated what I had in there, in less time that what I have been used to with other larger dehydrators that I have used in the past. ... show more

This is a very well designed unit with temp settings from 95F to 158F. Plastic cabinet is solid, not flimsy, but bright red. The door has a clear panel to view contents in the unit. Very quiet operation. Loud beeping chime when unit is done running to alert you to remove/check contents for sufficient dryness. Unit comes with four wire mesh trays. The mesh on the trays is wide so not suitable for drying loose fine herbs without placing those in some sort of container or on a section of metal window screen folded up at the edges. Works very efficiently for fruit and vegetables, mushrooms. Have not tried the jerky recipes. Beware the included recipe book has a lot of typos, and may not include all ingredients and steps in each recipe. Suggest seller at least update and edit and put a sticker on the booklet with URL for the corrected version online. ... show more

I like the size. I did not want a large appliance because of storage and I find this size perfect for my needs. I use it to enhance my raw food eating regimen, mostly. By keeping the temperature below 118 degrees no nutrients are destroyed. Of course, since the unit gets to 158 you can use it for dehydrating many fruits and veggies. At first I thought this was going to be too small to really make anything, but it fit perfectly in my kitchen because I don’t have a lot of space for storage. It was super easy to use, the recipe book has guides and instructions, although the time frames are kind of broad but I think it’s because they leave it for you to base on your preference. Like we did bananas and the guide said to dehydrate for 8-24 hours, we initially set it for 8 hours and then did an additional 8 hours. The machine is also super quiet, the fan in my bedroom is louder than that haha ... show more

This is a pretty good food dehydrator. It is small enough to fit in small kitchens with limited space, and is incredibly quite. The only downsides I have with this is that the door doesn't close fully, and the temperature only changes 9 degrees at a time and the timer can only be set by hour.
