  • Bottom shelf amp, rivals quality of top shelf amps.
Style: 2 Channel Size: 2000W
Alright, let's start out with what I've got. I drive an old '91 Ford Explorer. It's equipped with a JVC Bluetooth In-dash Digital Media Receiver with Dual USB Ports, which is powering the two pairs of Pioneer TS-A6874R A-Series 6"x8" 3-Way 350 Watts (If you haven't already, check out the review for them. They thump whilst delivering shimmering highs, and clear even mids). The sub I got is an old Sony Xplode 12", I mean old--this is before they made them into the pentagon shapes. I got it off craigslist for $50 bucks in a ported, Sub Zero enclosure. Before this Pyle amp I was under powering it with an old stock Ford amp (Probably putting out no more than 75 watts). It did the job filling out the lows, but it did not give me anything to brag about. After a while the old amp decided to start overheating and cutting on the real hard, deep tones. So, I decided to search for a new amp. I scoured the internet, and read multiple reviews about various products. I was looking for something cheap. It's not like I had a Rockford Fosgate, or an MB Quart. The old Sony shouldn't need much. It says the peak power is 1200W on the front of the sub. A lot of people in the reviews say it's not truly putting out 2000 watts. I figured 'screw it. It's $60 bucks.' So I ordered it. I got all of my stuff before the sub, so I had my 6x8's installed and ready to go. Just laid some cable for the preamp RCA's. I was ready to roll. Upon unboxing I had gave the amp a once over and came to a conclusion rather quickly; there's nothing aesthetically special about it. It's not ugly, but it's not pretty. There's the usual LPF, and HPF's on it. Again, nothing terribly special. Pretty status quo. The real surprise was when I hooked it up expecting a small boost. Holy crap. This thing is making my sub box come apart. My whole SUV shakes now. From just one cheap, old Sony Xplode. I had a couple of friends whom had sworn on Autobahn, or Alpine amps marveling at the sound, power, and clarity of this cheap Pyle amp. There's only a few things wrong with this: 1. It gets hot. Real hot. Make sure to keep it out in the open, and away from the sun. 2. With two subs it sounds like crap. I don't know why. I gleaned the info from a review I read before buying, tried it out myself and sure enough, it sounds like it's reverse phased. Run it bridged. So, I took a gamble, and I feel I came out on top. The rumble this thing puts out is amazing. Coupled with my deck, and my 6x8 pioneers, one can easily hear me coming from down the road, even at moderate volumes. I listen to a wide variety of music, from Combichrist, to Michael Bublé, the Rent Soundtrack, to The Avett Brothers. Everything sounds amazing with this set-up. If you're looking for a cheap amp to get the job done, I'd recommend this to anyone looking to save some cash, while still maintaining quality. ... show more

  • Great Amp for a Cheap Price
Style: 2 Channel Size: 2000W
Having suffered a long time without a proper amplifier, (Power Acoustik Crypt Series, 2000W Mono-block outputs fried in 8 months, leaving my two 12 inch Infinity subs cold and neglected) I found this. Initially worried it wouldn't change a thing, I hooked it up quickly (inputs for power, and speakers are at a near 45 degree angle, making it nice to not have to pull the entire amp/box out to re-wire) with better sound quality than the Power Acoustik amp, or any I have had prior. It has good safety specs (Short circuit, thermal and overload protection), a pretty comprehensive sound control layout (turn dials for HPF, LPF, crossover controls for full range, LPF, and HPF, and gain and bass knobs) and a sleek, small look that is nice just to look at. It also boasts that it is bridgeable, which I don't really need to do but with most amps, bridging either void warranties or it isn't recommended by the manufacturer. The only minor faults are that the protection/power light are on the rear, making it hard to check unless opening my trunk. Additionally, the turn dials are fit to be turned with a phillips screwdriver, rather than a flathead- which will only make it a little longer (maybe 5 seconds) of a process if you don't remember where you set the dials. Also, using one speaker sounds a hell of a lot better- with two it almost sounds like they are reverse phased. I see a lot of bad reviews for fire, and overheating. Usually blown fuses are a problem in the wiring that you yourself do. The music I listen to has a wide range of highs and lows, mainly Nine Inch Nails, and scores for films by Marco Beltrami (The score for Scream is a prime example), and it makes them sound like a whole new listening experience. Other bad reviews claim that the amp is underpowered compared to what it is rated at. Almost every amplifier is, my 2000W monoblock only pushed 860W RMS. Educate yourself, please. Products like Sony, and Pioneer are 'higher end' and do the same thing, with their subwoofers, head units, and amps. If you dont get 1000W(!!!) per speaker, save your money and busy a $500 3000W Rockford Fosgate or something. I heard a lot of good things about Pyle and now I will also be singing their praises. It's hard enough to find a reliable, cheap 2-ohm amp, let a lone one that is as sleek, safe, and convenient as this one is. Thumbs up. ... show more

  • As long as it’s a good one
Style: 2 Channel Size: 2000W
Updated to 5 stars, I will still spend the money for a nice expensive one when I have it, but this thing is still pissing off soccer moms and neighbors left and right pumping 2 12” alpines and some nice (6) door speakers and (2) Pyle tweeters and doesn’t go into protect mode. I love this thing, I just wish I had gotten the 4 channel is all or that they made a 6 channel. As long as you get one that works. Was sent the first one, and never did get it to work. Hooked it up exactly where my old amp was so I knew everything worked and nothing. Checked everything with a multi meter, fuses, and nada. However they priority shipped one out and I recieved it two days later but still preferred another 100$ amp expecting the worst. As fate would have it, the other amp got lost in transit even though I paid to overnight it, and the company took a week to get me another one and when that one showed up it never worked either LMAO. Plugged in the replacement PYLE and to my surprise not only did it work but it works amazing. Has not gone into protect mode and I’m running two Alpine 12” subs, 2 rear hatch aftermarket speakers, two rear door after market speakers, two front door aftermarket speakers, and two aftermarket tweeters and there’s enough bass to make my neighbors leave a flaming bag of dog poop on my porch if I played it at the same volume I do once I leave the neighborhood. I planned on keeping both amps thinking I would need them to power everything and luckily this one does it all. As long as it works it’s great. ... show more
