should have looked a little closer before i ordered it but it is real junk. Very loose fitting on turn table was very dirty when it arrived dont understand that any not a good vise.

    • You get a good vise at a fair price.

This really is not a bad vise at all. This vise offers the same features as any vise. You get the full 360 degree rotation with a base that can be bolted to the shop bench. The jaws are decent and grip nicely. What is also nice is there is a set of rubber pieces that go over the grips so that you don’t scratch or marr something up. This is great for bushings or whatever else you want to be careful with. This vise is within the price range as other 4.5” bench vises. Of course there are others out there for a few bucks cheaper but then you have to drive into the store and wait in line. Sometimes just having something shipped directly to the house is worth paying an extra few bucks. I live on a farm So this will definitely get put to some use. It feels like it made well enough to last for many years and this is with a lot of use. I don’t believe in getting something if it’s only good for pastime at home use. If it’s a tool it should withstand the punishment of being a tool no matter what the price. I work industrial maintenance and have worked on equipment since I was young. I know a decent tool when I see one and this is definitely a good tool that should last a while. If for some reason I’m wrong then you can bet I’ll be back to give an update. ... show more

    • Ideal for Clamping - Not So Much as a Vise

If you need a durable, reliable vise for the next 10 years, this aint it. But then, you're only looking at this one right now, because it's probably what's within your budget. My Dad uses a Wilton, it's fantastic. But you have to be willing to spend Wilton money, if you want that kind of quality (anywhere from $140 to $600). After using this for a few weeks, I'd say it's more suited to clamping. Basic DIY fixes, woodworking. I'm a bit wary of using it for when I need to cut metal. I don't expect to still be using it five years from now. But then again, I can say the same thing about any vise (even Yost) for around fifty bucks. It's a three star product, if you're comparing it to a $140 Wilton. It's a four star product, if you're comparing it to any other bench vise in the $40 to $60 range. I've used worse, I've used better. Bottom line, is this is really something suited for DIY stuff if you're on a fixed budget for a vise. I definitely wouldn't suggest using it for commercial purposes, everyday use (save for woodworking maybe). ... show more
