PLEASE know exactly what a hand woven JUTE rug is before purchasing! If you’ve never seen one in person, go to Lowe's, Home Depot, pottery barn etc and look…actually, don’t just look…take it down from the display, put in the floor. Look closely at it, walk on it, touch it. Because yes, they are chunky/knobby….they have a multitude of flaws- ‘character’ and TONS of texture. These rugs won’t be for everyone. I have 4 of these in various rooms. I ordered this one in a large size 12’ x 15’…it weighs approximately 120lbs. I ordered the natural color, and it looks differrent in every light, even thruout the day in the sunlight, and again in the evening based on what lighting we are using. There are varying shades of brown, tan, khaki, beige, gray, griege, cream. See my photos for upclose look. No 2 jute rugs will ever be identical. They are made of jute….which is a rough, natural fiber made from stems of old world jute plant…it is extracted from the bark. There WILL be pieces of hard twine, maybe even a little stray piece of a twig in these rugs. When I laid mine out, I first went around it with a pair of sharp scissors and cut the tops of these pieces off, and if you see my photos, I put them on a paper towel for the purpose of this review. If you don't want to have to bother with this, then I definitely recommend passing on this rug. Also, it will shed a lot the first few times you vacuum it (you guys, this was made from plant bark!). We always remove shoes as soon as we comes into the house, so I'm constantly barefoot…it doesn’t bother me at all…it just feels like walking on a chunky rug. My husband actually has more of a tender underfoot, and he doesn't like the way it feels barefoot, but then again, he’s always wearing socks so its not an issue…in socks he says it feels totally fine. The price point on this rug is actually pretty reasonable…I looked at similar jute rugs in this size (12’x15’) and found some as high as $4k….and yes, there is a difference, aside from the price…the more expensive ones have definitely been processed /manufactured in a way that makes the ‘flaws/character’ less. If $4k was in budget, I still don't think I could do it because the issues with this rug don’t bother me, especially enough to pay so much more. So in the end…. KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING. It’s definitely not for everyone. I just happen to love the character, texture and visual interest that it gives the space. So seriously, check one out in a local store…I really do think there wouldn’t be so many negative reviews about this rug if people had truly known what they were getting. I had no idea what to expect when I ordered the first one, but fortunately it was exactly what I was looking for. ***Side note….it is no easy to task to move furniture on this rug, so keep that in mind. We usually have to move a few thiings around to accomadate our Christmas tree, but we won’t be able to do much now, at least not with the big/heavy pieces because nothing slides or glides easily on this rug. I love mine 💁🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️👌🏻.

I purchased this rug at the recommendation of a popular vlogger to go in my new home. I ordered it 3 months before I moved out of my apartment so I decided to put it down to see what it would look like. Unrolling the rug was a chore. It is extremely heavy...no way does the 6x9 weigh just 13 pounds as listed in the description. The rug itself was okay. It had a lot of little sticks poking out which hurt to walk on. It also had a lot of large knots that were also very uncomfortable to walk on. This rug stayed in my apartment for 3 months. I am the only one who lived there, so there were not a lot of people walking on it. When I got ready to move and started rolling up the rug I noticed a layer of sand on the floor. I literally swept two dustpanfuls of sand from under this rug. I had one of my friends help me take it outside on moving day and try to shake it out but it was so heavy that it was nearly impossible to shake out all of the sand. When I got to my new house I put the rug down, thinking it would be cleaner than it was. I have been in this house since September 1st. Last week, out of curiosity, I pulled the rug back and lo and behold more sand. So I rolled it up and took it to the trash. Also I noted that it had discolored on the underside and had streaks of yellow. I have replaced this rug with a pile rug and I'm extremely happy that I no longer have to deal with the painful sticks, fibers sticking to everything, and the endless amounts of dust and sand. I am very disappointed in this recommendation. This was an expensive mistake. Buy at your own risk!

Fr appearance only, i give it 10/10 bc looks like decent quality: nice mix of color w farm house style rug I've been looking for. If you're expecting something that's soft to the touch (barefooted), it will disappoint you. There's also raw material that is very hard and a bit painful if you accidentally step on it, like a dull nail. I give it 2/10 bc no one should be feeling like they stepped on a needle. So u need to cut them out. I cut out 8 of them. Np for those who wear shoes in the house. Mine came poorly packaged (ripped in numerous spots/plastic cover) 1/10.. since it was completely exposed, the rug had dirty stains due to dragging. There were a few woven spots that were undone (5/10). Make-up like pink and orange stain in 2 spots but not very noticeable (5/10). I prefer to exchange it but it's a hassle to lug it to UPS to return so keeping it. For the price and by appearance only, it's a great deal. Quality wise, if u look close up, it's a barely a 5/10 due to the circumstances mentioned above.

I've always wanted but have been a bit leery of buying a full jute rug. Reading some reviews you can tell that some can have issues especially if your expectations aren't in line. I got my rug today and I just love it! No moisture/damage. The smell is quite light and it's a nice smell. My rug is 6x9 and I expected the smell to be strong. I have a lot of experience with sea grass rugs and they have a great smell for a few days and this is similar. The rug has no real flaws/issues. I was prepared to have to cut off some pieces but I don't see ANY that need to be trimmed. I did vacuum both sides thoroughly but I don't think there was much debris. The rug is thick and relatively soft under foot. It's a nice natural look. Only warning is watch if you have a door that swings over the rug as it's thick though I'm sure as I walk on it it will flatten/compress more.
