Description

Soluble fiber from foods such as psyllium seed husks, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease. A serving of Psyllium Husk Powder supplies 6 grams of the 7 grams soluble fiber necessary per day to have this effect. Vigorously mix 1 level tablespoon daily into at least 12 oz. of water or juice and consume immediately. Be sure to drink plenty of additional fluids throughout the day. Start with smaller amounts and gradually increase over several weeks.

I use this to combat intestinal problems. I always use the NOW brand psyllium husk whenever I can, because it doesn't clump or get overly thick or taste gritty and bitter. I like the new plastic bag packaging, which is much less waste than the small plastic jars. I flavor it with powdered drink mix, and it's almost like Metamucil, which I actually find too sweet and too over-flavored. I've lived with constipation my whole life. I originally used GNC's Colon Pure but they stopped making it. I cycled through a couple other products and finally landed on this one. I have 5 senior I have 5 senior cats which were helped greatly by changing their diet. Took away dry food, cats do not drink enough water to process well. Recipe for 5 cats fed 3x per day. Each feeding: put 1/2 cup water in 2 cup measuring glass, add rounded 1/2 teaspoon pure psyllium powder, add small 5.5 oz canned cat food, add 1/3 cup packed with real meat, no skin, add enough good water (no chemicals) to come up to 2cup line, use stick blender to make thin pate then divide between the 5 cats.
