QThese sprayers are very hardy, but they ship out poorly protected. I wish the pressure regulator didn't come already attached and was protected by foam in the box. The first one I got had to be replaced due to damage during shipping, the second also had issues and I had to cannibalize the first. The third only had a problem with the pressure gauge inside metal having popped out but it still worked so I didn't want to deal with the hassle of a return. Once you get past that, the sprayer itself is actually very good. You need to tighten everything and I added TPE tape to all the connections before giving them a quarter turn with a wrench and neither sprayer I own leaks at all. The 5.5 GPM is a beast. I have the sprayer connected to a mist blower and if I remove the flow restrictor from it, it will empty the tank from full in a few minutes tops. I usually do that instead of using the bottom drain if I want to completely empty the sprayer and flush the lines too. The strainer works very well. Just a note to people who say it doesn't empty out past 4 gallons: that is not true at all. It will empty out every last drop but you have to make sure the tube is positioned correctly. During shipping the inner tube may have moved up. You need to reach in and push it down until it is touching the bottom. One of my sprayers fell while full due to being improperly strapped down, and only one sprayer gun clip broke. Every thing else was fine including the motor. This thing is built strong. Other features I like: the motor housing is protected, the tank isnt rounded on top allowing better clearance if needed, there are strap indents for easier securing, and it comes with good handles. Things to note: this thing needs a lot of juice. If you aren't using the provided alligator clamps, make sure whatever SAE connector you are using is rated for 25 Amps. Peak power on this sprayer is 20A. You will need at least 14 GA wiring. The provided SAE connector is 12GA. Also, the connectors to the DC motor may come loose during shipping and are hidden in the housing. Make sure they are securely inserted before first use or you might think the power output is weak. 9 out of 10 problems are from poor shipping, 1 out of 10 from improper assembly!

Worked wonderfully! It arrived without damage. There are no assembly instructions, but a tiny bit of guess work is enough to complete assembly. Wow, this thing really puts out the pressure! The boomless spread is impressive and the wand works better than any other that I have ever owned.

The absolute worst product I have ever purchased on Amazon. Product came without assembly instructions so therefore I was forced to assemble from looking at the picture on the box. Once it was assembled the drain plug does not tighten completely therefore it leaks. The pump isn't pumping to the wond or the boom sprayer. It is leaking heavily around the regulator. When I called tech support for assistance, I was told I needed to file around the drain plug and take the pressure regulator apart and flip the C clamps around. Basically asking me to do something that should have been done at the manufacturing facility. Do not buy this product or any other North Star product because their tech support people admitted that their company sends out faulty products because they have a new plant in Mexico.

Sprayer works fine. Easiest to hook it up to an extra battery and be careful when installing clips for the sprayer. Clip was broken. Tried to get replacement part that was damaged but had issues with the warranty. Northstar wouldn’t send replacement part because it was bought through jacks small engine. Jacks small engine wouldn’t help on the phone because “all contact had to go through Amazon”. Only option was to return the entire unit. Wouldnt recommend buying through jacks small engine.

Continued review. there is no way to cut off the boom water flow if you remove the boom. They should provide a shut off for the hose if you remove the boom. Quality appears good but my sprayer was assembled incorrectly from the factory'. At 50 psi the boom puts out 3 gal/min with a width 25 feet. you are unable to invert the boom to raise it higher toggle a better spray width. I am trying to live with this. A lot more finicky than an old Fimco I wore out. Not sure if I need to get used to it, or send it back.(which I hate doing to these manufactures). Kinda feel i wasted four hundred dollars!

The reviews are right about the drain plug leak. Wrap it in plumbers tape to make it leak proof. Also, just go through and tighten down all the fittings you can. My pressure regulator and gauge work fine. Although I think they had the o-ring in the wrong place for the regulator. Installing it was a pain and broke the o-ring the first time. Besides those little things it seems great. Update: Have only sprayed 3 or 4 hours with this and doing great. Put a check valve in line and did some small modifications. Really makes quick work of things. Also, I recommend only mixing spray to about 80% of what is recommended because it dumps so fast!

Overall pretty happy so far. Had to do a few minor improvements. Assembly was pretty simple. Was missing a couple small bolts. Drain leaked though easily fixable with some Teflon tape. And had one factory hose clamp fail when pressure exceeded 50psi.
