  • Want the option of being able to charge in kickstand mode? This is a highly recommended accessory to have.
Style: Black Pattern Name: Playstand
I was in the market for something portable to hold my Switch when it's in tabletop mode. I'm sure you've heard of the built-in kickstand; it does the job, but you can't adjust the angle *and* you cannot charge the Switch while the kickstand is used. This stand from HORI not only lets you charge the Switch while using it but also lets you adjust the angle not 1, not 2, but *3* different ways. When flat, you simply (and gently) pop the back up and place the stand's easel at the desired angle. You just let it rest on one of the three stops; gravity takes care of the rest. You can then pull the shelf down. Reverse the process to fold the stand up for portability. The shelf where the Switch rests, the back where the Switch rests upon and the bottom of the stand are all rubberized, so there aren't any fears of damage of slippage. (Make sure you keep the bottom of the stand's feet clean.) There are two pegs on the shelf so that the Switch rests on them for added stability like it does in the Switch dock. (Must...resist...Switch...update joke...) There are corresponding openings on the back so that the Switch's intakes aren't blocked. The system can breathe perfectly. The stand, though it feels quite light, is very sturdy with the Switch resting on it. (Be sure to apply some leverage while adjusting the angle while the Switch is on the stand; hold the Switch with one hand while adjusting the easel on the back.) While testing, I couldn't push the Switch around or tip it while it was on the stand at any angle. Be careful while moving the stand with the Switch on it; the easel simply rests on the stop. When lifted from the front, the whole thing can collapse if you don't support the easel with your hand. My only gripes? You *can* put the Switch in portrait orientation but you won't have the stability provided like in landscape orientation, plus one of the intakes isn't completely open in portrait unless you scoot the Switch to the side a bit. (I mention this because one of the (forthcoming) games for the Switch, Namco Museum, will let you play in portrait orientation, which will more closely mirror the experience of the original arcade games. It's still pretty hard to push or tip the Switch around while in portrait, however. Almost needless to say (but still worth mentioning, for those who care) is that the product is made in China. All in all, highly recommended for those looking to go mobile and be able to charge while in kickstand mode. ... show more

  • Good, solid, practical stand.
Style: Black Pattern Name: Playstand
I searched around for other Switch stands because in the reviews for this one, it was suggested that there was no padding to protect the system from rubbing against the plastic or slipping on whatever surface it was on. I was also worried that the stand would be unstable because it was high up in the air, or that the notches could potentially slip, causing the Switch to slam onto the table backwards. Fortunately, as the other switch stand options had other problems or lacked quality, I decided to chance this one. Pleasantly, none of the problems I listed above were an issue with this product. The area that cradles the Switch have a few small pads keeping them from scratching the Switch, and adding friction, while two pegs keep the Switch in place. The notches seem to do their job and keep the stand upright, and there are additional pads on the bottom to keep the stand from sliding around on the table. I tried tapping the side of the Switch to test how stable it was and it seems at least as stable as the Switch is while using its kickstand, if not more. You shouldn't have to worry about small bumps while playing. The stand overall is pretty stable and gentle with the Switch and is great for playing while charging via the USB port when not using the Switch's dock, and the compact profile and cheap price are a nice bonus. ... show more

  • The product itself is great!
Style: Zelda Pattern Name: Playstand
While I like the product, I will say it is redundant and not practical. If you want your switch to sit higher, it’s fine I suppose. The switch itself has a built in stand and the OLED model has a built in adjustable stand. So do with that info what you will.

  • Great Portable Stand for Switch
Style: Pikachu Pattern Name: Playstand
I bought this portable switch stand for my switch lite so that I could take a controller on the go while traveling and have something to hold my switch while I play since the switch lite does not come with a built-in kickstand like the normal switch does. It works great and is easy to use if you're thinking about purchasing for children. You just pop it open, adjust it to the level that you would like, and then fold down the tab that actually holds the switch. It's very easy to use and seems durable. It's a little cheap-feeling, it's not metal, but it doesn't necessarily feel like super cheap plastic either. I tested the hinges and applied a little bit of force, and it seems like it'll hold. I enjoy the fact that it has adjustable viewpoints for different viewing heights, I think that was very thoughtful. I also really enjoy that there's a hole at the bottom in order for easy-access charging so that you can plug the switch in to charge while continuing to use the stand and play. I must say, the only thing that I really do not enjoy about this stand is the size. I understand that the switches are big and heavy, but a lighter, smaller stand would be nice. I looked on the market for a smaller stand, but they all seemed to be roughly around the same size. This Hori compact stand BARELY fits in my Butterfox Slim case, and while some cases are larger (like my sisters, which this would have no problem fitting in), I think that a smaller stand that's even more portable would be more enjoyable for on-the-go travel that doesn't bulk up your case. Overall, I really enjoy this stand and have already used it lots. I think it's a great alternative if you have a switch lite that doesn't have a built-in kickstand (or even if you have a switch wit ha kickstand) for playing with a controller. It's durable and sturdy, provides three different viewpoints, easily folds and unfolds for playing, and provides a cutout in the bottom of the tab that holds the switch for easy-access charging. I would only advise making sure that you have a case large enough to fit the stand, as it's a pretty big one. I have the Butterfox Slim carrying case and it barely fits in the zippered-pouch with my charging cord and earbuds. Even when trying to put it in/take it out, I need to be very careful of the zipper and tuck it under the zipper or untuck it from under before taking the stand out. Highly recommend if you're looking for something to travel with for playing on-the-go or if you're just looking to play games like fortnite, mario, etc. that require a stand that you can play with joycons or a separate controller. It's great, feels nice, is very durable and sturdy it's just very large. ... show more
