Most toasters with a bagel setting don't actually do a good job of toasting a bagel properly. Usually, the only thing a bagel button does is add more time while toasting both sides on full power, resulting in a bagel with an overly toasted outside (or an under toasted cut side). I bought this Ninja flip toaster specifically because I saw other comments mentioning that it actually toasted bagels properly (toasting only the cut side), and I'm happy to report that it works perfectly. You place the bagel pieces in facing the front of the toaster as indicated, set it to "bagel", and watch as it keeps the front heating element on steady and slowly pulses the back element on and off just to warm up the other side. Comes out perfectly for me at a 4 darkness setting. It's a pretty compact device, so will be good for someone with limited counter space. The only small complaint I have so far is the power cord is attached to the side with the display and controls, so you can't really keep it upright in toaster mode with the button side facing the user unless it's directly in front of a power outlet. It seems like the intended use is to keep it laying flat in toaster oven configuration, and flip it back towards the wall when you want to use it as a standard toaster. I have yet to try out the toaster oven function, but honestly all I wanted was properly toasted bagels, so I'm happy. I've got a few other Ninja small appliances and have had good luck with them, so I predict a good long term experience with this too. ... show more

Buy this!! I use this appliance at least twice per week. I always thought why buy a toaster oven, when I can easily throw stuff in the regular oven, but I was wrong! It’s a great regular use toaster and the toaster oven is phenomenal as well. Easy to use and clean. Two minor complaints: it beeps loudly and the instructions were not good. Basically for the oven part set the temp and time and start… when you check on it, the time stops, so you can peek and it won’t affect time/temp. Clever product all in one! ... show more

Does it have quirks? Yea. Could a few things be adjusted? Sure. Does it have a single whole step more than a normal toaster? Yep. Do I care? Not really Hands down my favorite toaster ever, does all the classic toaster stuff in a slightly larger package, but… suddenly I want a single serving of chicken nuggets or I want a quick crispy taco??? Boom, toaster oven… and in my kitchen I have very limited space so this thing kills all the birds with one stone. And it heats up and cooks rapidly, often faster than any package directions indicate. Next time your toaster dies, unless you have 400$ for a toaster that thinks for you, give this one a thought. ... show more

Overall, it’s a good machine. Bigger than standard toasters so probably not ideal to be kept on the counter at all times. The toasting mechanism is good. My complaint would be width/depth of the slot when completely open. It’s so large that smaller or thinner items will fall into it, which makes it hard to pick up when some toasting and scorching hot. The resting depth should shorter and it should plunge to the deeper depths to fit longer items. As it’s designed now, even a smaller piece of standard white bread can lead to an uncomfortable retrieval. The broiling mechanism is a nice feature and, when making something for yourself, is more convenient that using your full oven broiled. However, and this was to be expected, it isn’t as powerful as your oven broiler so it takes longer and leaves the item more cooked. I gave it 4 stars because of the design issues, but it’s still a nice machine. ... show more

I love when you can consolidate products and they actually work. Sometimes a product can do 1 of the things great and the other not so much. Well not here!! Love i can choose use as a toaster which lets me toast those long artisan breads but as a toaster over for left over pizza it was awesome too!! I have a Ninja foodi grill the original and I use it daily for everthing and this one now is right up there!! Great buy considering how expensive toasters have gottten and many don't do that well. ... show more

My mom only has a kitchenette in her assisted living apartment. The little microwave just does not heat toast, hot sandwiches, pizza or potato wedges well. This toaster/ toaster oven does all that but I can also make her a grilled cheese sandwich if she doesn’t like what they are serving. Perfect toast every time. Long slots accommodate artisan breads. Extremely easy to use. The oven feature is fabulous especially for a single person. My new propane oven produces a lot of heat so I can use the Ninja instead for my individual servings and feel good about energy savings. I didn’t give 5 stars because it was missing the end cap for the oven tray handle. I contacted Ninja service and they were very responsive are sending a replacement tray. ... show more
