Features

  • F/2.8 difference. The lens is twice as bright as an f/4 lens, giving you more control of light, more depth of field and more range of expression.
  • Low-light detail. On a Full-frame/FX-format Z series mirrorless camera with in-body image stabilization you can slow down your shutter speed to gather more light without causing camera blur or raising the ISO.
  • Versatile close shooting. Get as close as 0.68 inches at the 70mm zoom position and 2.79 feet at the 180mm zoom position for photos and videos that reveal the smallest details. Pairs great with Z teleconverters. Increase your reach by 2x (up to 360mm) with the Nikon Z Teleconverter 2.0x or 1.4x (up to 252mm) with the Z Teleconverter 1.4x (sold separately).
  • Suppressed focus breathing. When recording video, smoothly transition focus from foreground to background with virtually no change to the angle of view.
  • Lightweight and compact. With an approximate weight of 795g and under 6 inches in size, this is a lens for being on-the-go.

  • solid lens for sports photography - paired with a z5ii
Style: Lens Only
I bought this lens primarily for my kids sports. I have a 70-200 rf that I was using with the Z adapter and this is noticeably sharper and quicker to respond. Having night games meant I needed a 2.8 - but would have loved a longer lens and it just wasn't in budget. This gets the job done well. I am pleased with the reach and clarity at 180 since i am outside of a fence and usually at the longest length. In full daylight with the lens wide open, I am able to bump up to 1/2500 with an iso of 100 and get good shots with a softball fully frozen. And with the 24 mp camera, cropping in is still solid and can compensate for it not being the 300/400 that I wanted Soccer is shot with it at 180, dog and softball is 70mm. ... show more

  • Great quality lens
Style: Lens Only
I have been a professional wedding photographer for 13 years so I have owned a lot of Nikon lenses over the years. This 70-180 2.8 is a great lens for the cost. This Z mount lens will fit on any of Nikons mirrorless Z series’s cameras. It’s lighter (key for me) and cheaper than the 70-200 2.8 VR S and you won’t miss the extra 20mm on the back end. This build quality is good. The autofocus is quick and reliable and at f2.8 it’s great in low lighting situations. I am very pleased with this lens. If you are looking for a lighter telephoto zoom lens I definitely recommend this one. ... show more

  • Perfect Lens To Capture Candids While Still Leaving Room For Privacy!!!
Style: Lens Only
This is one of my go to lenses on a wedding day! While I keep this lens on my backup camera, it is one that I definitely reach for while at the ceremony and just to capture a lot of candids without having to get too close and/or give more privacy for intimate moments! Definitely recommend. It has a great zoom range, I seriously don't need more than that. It is sharp, and has great focus. Definitely a must have for a wedding day. ... show more

  • Sharp and lightweight lens
Style: Lens Only
Much sharper than I expected being a “non-S” lens. Very pleased with the photos coming from this lens on my Z6iii. Excellent for when you don’t want to heft around the Z 70-200 mm lens despite how great that is too. Highly recommend as an experienced photographer with high expectations in perfection. • Great Lens!
Style: Lens Only
This lens might not be QUITE as good optically as the 70-200, I think I prefer it. For me the image quality is on par with all of my Z lenses. Some might complain about the "plastic" feeling of the lens, I don't find that it feels cheap in any way. In fact, the reason I prefer this version is that it's lighter and much more compact. As a landscape photographer who hikes, it's perfect to pick out details in a scene. It has also worked great for portraits, giving me good sharp images with a beautiful creamy background at f2.8. ... show more

  • lightweight and affordable
Style: Lens Only
I bought this lens when my wife decided to come work with me at horse shows. Its light weight is great for her. She is getting very clear sharp images with it on her Z8 and she can shoot all day with it without the fatigue that comes with a heavier package.

  • Early batch failure
Style: Lens Only
Dead on arrival, no communication with the z6. Disappointed, but Amazon return takes away the sting. "Failure to Initialize ".
