  • Amazing lense
This has fast become my go to lense. I absolutly love it and use it for 90% of everything I do

  • So much fun.
I am not a professional photographer but I have been wanting a really fast prime for a long time to finish my kit for my Z9. The photos I have taken with this lens are fantastic. I usually shoot birds with my 600mm but this time of year the bird population dwindles so I look for other subjects. The photos are sharp and at f/1.2 you can really get that subject separated from the background. I have learned to prefer non-zoom lenses and this one is a fantastic addition to my collection. ... show more

  • Such a stunning lens
Use this all the time for portraits. It’s so crisp and came within 1 day of ordering. It’s kind of heavy but worth it for the photos you get

  • Best Prime Lens I’ve Owned
Nikon has come a long way. This is one of the best prime lenses that I have owned. The sharpness is phenomenal! Up next is the 85mm 1.2 as soon as I can afford it.. lol

  • Sharp at 1.2!!!
I shoot portraits and have been waiting for this lens since they announced it! Is 1.2 necessary? No. Absolutely not. But oh is it so nice to have. Video quality is so good and picture is sharp edge to edge even at 1.2!! Large and heavy but a small sacrifice for picture quality.

  • A Disappointment...
Optically speaking this lens is excellent. On par with Canon, Sony, and other brands 50mm 1.2 primes. My complaints would be the build quality. Technically speaking this lens is heavy, so you'd think it's heavy duty. This is a unique case where heavy most certainly is not better. The lens focus ring, buttons, and general plastic feel are cheap. It feels like how $300 nifty-fifty lenses felt 10 years ago. Massively disappointing in build quality, Sony's 50mm feels a lot more solid. The digital display on the lens is low resolution, somewhat inaccurate, and the biggest problem of all, the display has a significant delay. Let's say for example you want to set the aperture using the ring to f2.2, good luck. With the delay being as bad as it is you'll end up overshooting or undershooting constantly. It feels like a cheap gimmick, and it just doesn't work very well. I'd much have preferred a regular aperture ring... I just have no idea what they were thinking. Decent optics, awful ergonomics. ... show more
