- Beautiful background blur: The shallow depth of field of f/2 is enhandced by the lens' 9 rounded blade diaphragm, creating a natural bokeh effect.

Beautifully compact everyday lens with great results!
I’ve been using the Nikon NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 Lens on my Z-mount camera and it’s quickly become one of my favorite primes. It’s super lightweight and easy to carry, yet delivers sharp images with pleasing bokeh thanks to the f/2 aperture — perfect for portraits, street photography, and daily shooting. Autofocus is quick and quiet, and overall performance feels much more advanced than its size suggests. Highly recommended if you want a versatile, high-quality lens that’s great for everyday use!

Beautiful Pictures, Lightweight, Compact
Amazing value for such a high quality little lens! The lens is lightweight and compact; easy to carry around if you are really active either on a hiking trail or city streets. Works very well for landscapes and street photography, but can work decently well as a wider portrait lens for full body shots. The lens is of cheaper quality, though, being that the housing is made of plastic while some Nikon lenses are metal, but that's entirely fine for such a short, prime lens where it's not as susceptible to accidental damage like a long, zooming telephoto lens. If you don't already have a lens that open wider than F/4 in the neighborhood of 40 mm, then I definitely recommend the lens. It's a great complement especially if you already have the F/4 24 - 70 kit lens.

Excellent lens
This Z 40mm f2.0 prime lens is a great value. I find that 40mm on my full-frame Nikon Zf mirrorless camera is a great option for my "walkaround" photography. It's not "wide-angle" it's not "telephoto", it's right in the middle where many photos are taken. It's small and light weight so it's easy to tote around if you want to switch with a wide or tele lens. I bought the standard edition as the SE version was not available at the time. They are the same lens except for the "old-fashioned" look of the SE version. That was not an issue for me. Also the SE model is more expensive. I'm very pleased with the sharpness and clarity of my images. The manual focus ring is smooth and accurate. The build quality is good and everything looks well-assembled. It's a great price and value for the results I'm getting. I'm really glad I bought it.

Flexible, Versatile and Produces Amazing Pictures
This has quickly become my favorite lens for shooting medium distance video with my z6III. the auto focus is great and the picture quality is top notch. I get clear, sharp subjects and a nice wide picture that gives me a lot of flexibility in post production. I frequently switch between shooting video and stills very quickly, and having a lightweight lens that allows for close or medium distance shots is imperative and this lens does it all with ease!

Perfect everyday lens for my Nikon ZR
**Perfect everyday lens for my Nikon ZR** I use this lens with my Nikon ZR and really like how compact the setup is. The 40mm focal length sits nicely between 35mm and 50mm, which makes it very versatile. It has been especially good for outdoor and street photography, where it feels wide enough without looking too wide. For indoor shooting, I also picked up the 28mm version from the same series, but the 40mm has become my favorite everyday lens.

The Nikon NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 lens exceeded my expectations in every way. The 40mm focal length strikes a perfect balance between wide-angle and portrait, making it versatile for a variety of shots. Whether capturing crisp details or achieving creamy bokeh, this lens delivers exceptional image quality. Its compact and lightweight design makes it an ideal companion for any photography adventure. I'm thoroughly impressed with the results I've achieved using the Nikon NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 lens, and it has become a permanent fixture in my camera bag.

Fantastic lens for the price.
This lens has become my "daily driver." It's a great focal length for every day photography. The size and weight are great just for walking around and exploring. The lens is plenty sharp, but I'm not zooming in to 400% to determine a picture's worth. Overall, I have no complaints about this lens. I bought this with the expectation that this would be more of a limited-time lens. However, this is on my Z8 about 80% of the time.
