  • Truly excellent all-in-one lens
I bought this lens specifically for a trip to Iceland, and it turned out to be exactly what I was hoping for. Being able to cover landscapes, portraits, wildlife/nature shots, and even close-up detail work with a single lens made traveling and shooting so much easier. The zoom range is incredibly versatile. Wide enough for sweeping landscapes (24-50mm), plenty of reach for distant subjects (100-200mm), and surprisingly capable for close-up shots when needed. Image quality has been consistently crisp, and the lens feels very user-friendly while still offering a lot of capability for more intentional shooting. It is a bit on the larger side, so it’s not something I’d casually carry all day if I didn’t need the range. That said, it’s far smaller and lighter than carrying multiple lenses to cover the same focal lengths, which makes it an excellent choice for travel. For me, the convenience easily outweighs the size. Overall, this is a powerful, flexible lens that performs reliably across many situations. If you want a high-quality “one lens does almost everything” option for travel or general use, this is a great choice. ... show more

  • All Around Sweet Spot
Very Good All-Around Z-Mount Lens — Lightweight, Sharp, and Surprisingly Versatile This is my first Z-mount lens, paired with my fist mirrorless Nikon Z5 II, and I’m genuinely happy. The NIKKOR Z 24-200mm VR hits a certain sweet spot: it’s lightweight, well-balanced on the camera, and delivers a hugely useful focal range that covers almost everything I shoot—city walks, portraits, landscapes, and travel. Image quality is better than I anticipated for a super-zoom. Colors are clean, autofocus is reliable, and the VR handles handheld shots very well. Yes, I wish it were a faster, but at this price point you simply won’t find a more convenient, high-performing all-in-one lens for the Z system. If you’re looking for a single lens to keep on your camera most of the time, this one is a good choice. Great value, great versatility, and a perfect match for the Z5 II. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Portable and great $
This lens is above my expectations. It’s great quality, sharp focus , decent aperture, light weight and not expensive. Just for everyday use.

  • Great paired with my z8
Honestly, for the money, this lens is a total steal. I’ve been keeping it glued to my Z8 lately because it’s just so much easier than hauling around a bag full of primes. It’s become my go-to "Swiss Army Knife" for those days when I’m pivoting between taking portraits and spotting larger birds or wildlife that happen to be nearby. The autofocus is snappy enough to keep up with the Z8’s speed, and even though it's a zoom, the images come out remarkably crisp. I’ve found that the 200mm reach is perfect for those closer or larger subjects like a heron or a hawk on a low branch, and if I need a bit more reach the high resolution of the Z8 gives me plenty of room to crop in without losing the detail. It’s rare to find a lens this lightweight that can handle a morning of birding and an afternoon of portraits without missing a beat. If you want one lens that can basically do it all without breaking the bank, this is definitely it. ... show more

  • Good build
My new Nikkor Z 24-200mm is great all around. For a zoom lens, it exhibited excellent build quality with light weight. Everything works great with my Zf camera (like Focus Peaking). It has a clean design and not too long for a zoom and of course, no lens converter is required. There are no switches to control lens functions except a locking switch for the 24mm position - which I don't consider necessary as the lens barrel tension is perfect (not lose or sloppy). The lens does not extend downward if you carry it on a shoulder strap. You have to make any lens adjustments in your camera. This is a great lens for general photography use. It replaces several of my fixed lenses for "walking around" photography. The VR (vibration reduction) works well. It's auto-focus speed is quite fast and accurate on my camera. Overall, this is a very good lens and a worthwhile purchase. My only complaint is that it's a bit soft (focus) at and near 200mm. especially If you crop much. If you plan to make large prints or otherwise insist on perfect focus at long zooms, consider the Z 100-400mm "S" lens instead. I have that lens too and it maintains very sharp at all focal lengths. ... show more
