  • Great Camera at a Great Price!
Upon return from a month long trip to the Black Hills, we discovered we no longer had our Panasonic camera, bag, chargers, etc. Needing a replacement the no longer available Panasonic, the Nikon P530 refurbished seemed to have all the attributes we wanted and more than we had with the Panasonic yet still within our price range. Got it in just a few days, just at the peak of the color in the hardwoods here in northern Wisconsin. Camera feels great, controls are all where they ought to be, and I don't have to depend on that worthless (most of the time) lcd image on the back! This camera can do all my Nikon SLR could do and has the wide-angle and telephoto built in and not taking up all that space and weight (and bother) of the film camera. Wish I could just use my great exterior Nikon flash in this one, and I still have to find some accessories (filters, hood, etc.) but the built in flash seems ok. and the photos seem fine with the standard non-filtered lens. Haven't taken that many photos, and can't speak for the battery, though certainly seems fine after a couple of weeks and 35 photos. And the refurbished aspect? Sure looked new to me. Not a scratch, smudge or indication of any prior use. In comparison with other cameras, this is a great bargain. Further review if my first impressions are in any way incorrect. ... show more

The camera is good I like it but I did not get a manual for it and there seems to be a little problem with the stabilizer since some of the pictures are coming out a little blurry other than that it's ok

  • Quick Summary Review
The Nikon Coolpix P530 is a really nice camera in the aspects of Image quality and Video Ability. Beautiful pictures can be taken with ease. However, after using the camera for about a couple of months; it will result in the camera to malfunction. I am almost furious at that fact. A company as legit as Nikon shouldn't have a camera that malfunctions like this! If you're looking for a solid camera, maybe reconsider something that has a better life span. ... show more

  • Very pleased
Recently moved to the mountains of Colorado and noticing that I was living in a target rich environment as far as picture taking goes, thought a camera would be nice to have. After looking at DSLRs and all the peripheral lenses, filters, etc and the price tags, I thought maybe something that was a little more point and shoot would be the answer for my needs. Well, this camera is a bit more than a point and shoot camera and for a guy who is technologically stunted, there is a learning curve. I have only had it a couple weeks and have not had the chance to explore all the bells and whistles associated with the camera, but I have taken some pretty nice pictures of the scenery here, plus the wildlife. The wildlife photos were taken from several football fields away in most cases and they turned out pretty well. The camera has a very good zoom capability. I am very pleased with the camera and hope to become more proficient with it's features in the future. ... show more

  • but this has been a fun camera to use
I didn't realize when I ordered this it was the model without the flip screen, and I was a tiny bit put off by that when I first pulled it out of the box, but this has been a fun camera to use. I was upgrading from the P510, which did not have the ability to transmit wirelessly (via separate accessory) to my camera or computer. I love the ability on to transmit wirelessly (via separate accessory) on this camera! This camera is a refurb, and I'm very impressed with how flawless it has been so far. The body did not have any appearance of being previously used. I am unable to see through the viewfinder while wearing sunglasses, which never was a problem with the P510, but I'm adapting and beginning to remember to take my sunglasses off when I am shooting with this model. It's an adjustment, but I can live with it, especially for the price of the camera. I believe I'd read in a couple of reviews the quality of images on the P530 is not professional level when the lens is fully extended or when the photos are enlarged beyond say, 8x10. I would have to agree with that. But I wanted a lightweight, compact zoom camera I can carry around with me during bicycle tours without having to cart around my D300, seven lenses and all the other accessories I like to use. I've had this camera a little more than one month now, and it is perfectly suited for bicycle tours. It's better than any point-and-shoot I've ever used, and it's better than an iPhone 4 or an iPhone 5, the only camera phones with which I am experienced. The extra long zoom is nice, but the auto focus is very slow when fully zoomed. Powering up on this camera is slower than the P510. The wireless adapter (purchased separately and which does not work with the P510) has options I haven't had the opportunity to test yet, but I am anxious to try my hand at stop-motion and time lapse. If something were to happen to this camera in the near future, I would look for a similar model with a flip screen, but I'm otherwise pleased with this purchase. ... show more
