  • Would I buy this again? YES!
Style: Red Line Laser
You can go less expensive and still get pretty good quality. However, nothing with a beam this strong (at least from the solid red lines options). Indoors it can span any room from end to end. For a the extra cost you get: stronger beam, a 3rd plane, fine tune micro-adjustment for the vertical alignment, a magnetic mount, and a another type of clamp mount for more versatility. Very convenient and endless uses for little effort. For any type of construction, it adds instant value and will pay for itself quickly. Even as a weekend warier it is worthwhile. You can even level pictures all at the same time for the entire room in one setup. I used it last weekend to install a new door frame and was able to get the layout dead on. It doesn't make me any faster but it makes my work look better. Fine-Tune for Vertical Alignment is worth the cost alone: I never before realized until using it, the micro-adjustment vertical alignment is an absolute must for certain applications. Say you are putting in a tile floor - you need to control the vertical alignment plane to dissect on the correct source location as well as the target location. What are you going to do, move the tri-pod, move the device to zero in on your target? There is no moving to fine tune for the target without effect the source location as well. There is no way to control and fine tune for one variable without throwing off the other. You end up spending more time than is warranted or learn to live with in-exact results. This is when the vertical find adjustment becomes a life saver - you can tune the target location without moving or impacting the source location. Now your 1/8" variant becomes that much more precise because you can at least factor out error in proper placement. I wish it also had another fine-adjustment control for horizontal plane for those times when you don't use a tripod but that is minor grip in comparison to the vertical control. ... show more

  • Best small laser I have used.
Style: Red Line Laser
I am a carpenter. Commercial construction every day. Have had this laser for couple years and use it all the time. Do a lot of acoustical work and use for layout of walls and ceilings. Great for squaring partitions, check with tape and always square. Use for plumbing metal stud walls. It is designed to set over the leg of bottom track with the line from the side of the laser can easily install top track with bottom track already in place. Great for grid ceilings, can use to square lines for layout and mounting bracket is made for attaching to wall angle to level wall angle, no snapping of lines and easier than large rotary lasers. Can move laser down on bracket to level grid with laser card if you have one. Also use for install of metal door frames, trust eyeing laser rather than a bubble on level. Use on a camera tripod for installing cabinets and cleating for work tops, wood backing for cabinets and accessories, leveling grab bars and mirrors. Just used it on tripod to install 600' of chair rail, saves a lot of time. Just set tripod in center of room, adjust tripod to wanted elevation and go to it. Best small laser I have used. The micro adjust knob is great for setting line to layout, much easier than having to move the entire laser back and forth till you get lucky and hit your mark. This laser having 3 lines, the square line feature and the micro adjust makes this the best small laser I have used in my 30 year career. Only down side is not having a pendulum lock so you need to treat it with care when moving it or carrying in the case. Case is nice, fits and holds laser well and has place for 4 extra batteries. Battery life is good. Best laser when a large rotary is not required. ... show more

  • Awesome Tool
Style: Red Line Laser
After tossing a few cheapie laser levels from failure or inaccuracy, I decided to get something more pro-grade for my next DIY project. Wow, am I ever glad I did! This is a phenominal pro-grade level. Its self-leveling, which is so nice, makes it go from beam on the wall to an actual usable tool! Mine was not out of square at all. The unit paints horizontal and vertical lines everywhere but directly behind it. Its as close to 360 degrees as I need and can afford. I would like 360, but its hundreds more. On angles it flahses its beam more slowly, I actually found this helpful, angles always make me think long and hard before committing, so the decreased distraction was appreciated. The unit attaches magnetically, with clamps and screws on to a tripod (I used my camera tripod). The laser is exceptionally bright! I worked with it in daylight and was able to see the lines perfectly. My cheapies from the past required me to wear laser-enhancing glasses to see the beam in most situations. The unit comes in a very sturdy injection-molded case. I am not sure I could be happier with this purchase...highly recommended for those not needing 360 degrees. ... show more

  • High quality, intuitive to use, and very helpful for large-scale work
Style: Green Line Laser
What's not to like about a 3-laser system when you have to do layout work in a 3-D space? Super time saver. Yes, it's expensive so don't get it to hang pictures. But if you have a "space" you're working in, and need quick, easy, and accurate layout tools - this is awesome.

  • excellent indoors, so-so outdoors
Style: Red Line Laser
Just got this and tried it out indoors. It's great indoors. Took it outside, and it's a little disappointing. Knowing red lasers are hard to see after 30-40 feet, I thought this would be somewhat effective at 10 feet from the target wall for a 20 foot line. It was barely visible until I put on the red glasses. I almost bought a green laser level, and now wish I had. Only thing that kept me from doing it was cost. In this price range I didn't see any self leveling green line lasers. It will work outdoors for what I need, but if you plan on using a self leveling line laser outdoors, I'd recommend going green. ... show more

  • the best of its kind! calibration dead on!
Style: Red Line Laser
first of all this is also a laser plumb bob! at the time i purchased this nothing online had really specified it being able to be used as a laser plumb bob... it makes a cross hair on the floor and on the ceiling which is what i needed more than any of its other features, I almost did not purchase this until i watched an online video of someone using it as a laser plumb bob! that's the great thing about this laser its like an all in one laser! it does wall grid square, ceiling square and can even be used as a giant floor square! it shoots lasers everywhere everything has a laser on it! and they are all square, level and plumb! what i purchased it for mainly was to do custom wall framing what i mean by that is like for basements and other areas where you cant really stand up a pre built wall and it saves hours and hours of time! occasionally other projects the beauty of this laser is its so fast to set up( like 2 min) so it becomes more practical than the old way of doing things before lasers came out... can be used as a chalk line too! what i noticed: the magnet on this thing could pick up a car! its good in a way but in another way its so ungodly strong im always afraid the bracket holding the tool will break trying to remove it from a metal surface... the case it comes in is awesome! perfect and has room for spare batteries there is no pendulum lock i have no idea why they didn't include it every other laser dewalt makes has it but this one so why? I have no idea why some people say its not calibrated mine was within 1/8" at 30' or even less im sorry if that happened to you ... show more

  • Love these little lasers
Style: Red Line Laser
Love these little lasers. Seeing how I do Tbar ceilings for a living the grid clamp it a big plus. I even use the 90 on the floor. Go to the print ,check layout and figure out your cuts and put it on the ground and go for it. Dead on accurate, perfectly square grid every time. My only beef about this laser is it Does Not have a pendulum lock. Which means the laser will not be true forever. I have 2 and one is about 3/8 out it 30' or so. but the 90 is still true on it. I don't know if dewalt can recalibrate or not and or is it even worth it seeing these lasers are about 300.00. the amount of time and space it saves pays for it regardless imo. ... show more

  • Fast and easy framing lines
Style: Red Line Laser
Bought this for finishing the basement and amazed at how easy it was to lay top and bottom chalk lines for framing all around. Doing the work myself and although I've never finished a basement before, my smokin'-hot wife thinks I'm a pro. No need for wasting time with a plumb bob! This unit sends bright red light top and bottom at the same time. And with its self-leveling ability, I only need to get it reasonably upright for perfectly level and plumb lines to shine brilliantly through the basement. It will even let you know if it's not able to level (because of too much tilt) by flashing rather than giving steady beams. Ready to use right out of the case! Literally just have to pull it out and set it on the floor or mount it with the magnet, on a tripod or even on a shark's head. Turn on the "LASERS" and start snapping chalk! Also helped me lay out cut lines for egress window installation. This unit can emit beams in one, two, or three planes at once; just press the on/off buttons you need. My only warning is to be careful where you point it when turning it on, since these lasers are heading out vertically, horizontally and laterally. With all those laser beams shooting out, it's easy to take one in the eye if you're not careful. ... show more
