  • Review for the Average Camera buyer without all the Bells & Whistles
Color: Black
Ill start by saying I really dont know much about Cameras. Im just the average Husband whos Wife has been saying for the last couple years that she would love a new Camera. So this Christmas Ive decided to take the jump and buy her this Nikon P520. Now I sat here like most of you are doing reading reviews and after about an hour I realized I still didnt know anything. It seems like a good Camera but then there are the bad reviews also. So I decided to contact an Old Friend that I hadnt spoken to in years who actually is a pretty well knowledged person at one of the Top Camera Companies that you see all the time. After sending him the link to this camera we went back and forth and he explained all the bells and whistles that this Camera had and also explained the pros and cons. What I came to realize after a couple days and alot of emails was I still really didnt know much about this Camera. So I left him with 2 last questions. 1) Is this Camera worth the money and 2) Is this Camera a Camera that you yourself with all your Camera Knowledge would actually purchase and enjoy. His answer to both of those questions was a very strong YES. Now thats what I needed. I just wanted to hear from someone who knew all the bells and whistles that it would be a Camera he would trust to take the pictures of his life. So I bought this Camera and without going on and on anymore then I already have I can tell you it was the best decision Ive made in a long time. Of course I gave it to her early so by Christmas we would know what we were doing. The pictures are Vivid and Vibrant. 2 words Ive never used in my life. Its easy enough to use for a guy like me but at the same time is capable of keeping the avid photographer happy with all the things its capable of doing. So after all this I would say yes, buy this Camera. We havent had one issue with it at all and it really seems like we made a good choice. Hope this helps the average Camera Buyer a little more then all the other head spinning reviews I sat and read for Hours. ... show more

  • Love this camera
Color: Black
We have loved this camera. The wide variety of settings combined with the awesome optical zoom are amazing. We have been happy with its performance for both interior and exterior shots. I have been able to take great shots at tremendous distances while visiting national parks. Although the zoom may take a second to autofocus, I have still managed to get great shots. It has also made some great pics when we were at a hockey game and I was shooting from near the other net. (We looked at the photos just last night and you could see the goalies facial expression behind the mask.) I have recommended this camera and the P510 to both my brother and my girlfriend. They have been extremely happy with the camera from it's ease of use to its great picture quality. (Yeah I know its not an SLR but I didn't pay for an SLR so I am fine with that) I bought two extra batteries and a wall charger for under $20 dollars so I do not do the plug in and charge the camera routine. That did seem like a pain. Hope this helps. ... show more

  • great overall camera
Color: Black
We got the Nikon Coolpix p520 over Christmas. Over all it is a great camera. The 42x optical zoom is nothing short of incredible. It allows me to capture the craters on the moon and with the macro setting turned on, to get detailed rain drops hanging off leaves. The shutter speed is also great – ranging from 1 to one four-thousandths of a second. There are no stock lens filters available for this camera which was disappointing because I wanted to fit it with a UV filter to protect the lens. Also the aperture limited to F:3 TO F:8.4 which doesn’t give the same control of depth of focus as I had wanted. For the price I would definitely recommend this as an all-around capable and reliable camera that is capable of taking stunning images. ... show more

  • Best everyday camera I have ever owned
Color: Black
This camera is everything I love about my SLR without having to carry a camera bag. Image quality is impressive in full sunlight. Zoom is amazing. If you're going to the zoo, sporting event or outdoor ceremony this is your camera. Low light and indoors are very good too but that is not what it is designed for. This is my new everyday camera when I sight see. Can't say enough how I love it. ... show more

  • Botched Order and duplicate charges not good
Color: Black
Why in the world would I want to buy something else from an order that was dreadfully botched up. on 12/29/30 I ordered this Nikon CoolPix P520 and compact bag. On 12/30/13 my credit card contained charges for 2 cameras (ordered 1), 2 bags (ordered1)and a 16 gig memory card (did not order) for a total of $784.16 when the total was $383.50. Now I have to return the oneextra camera that I got yesterday 12/30/13 at my inconvenience, and then when I get the second package, this evening or January 2, 2014, with the other camera bag and memory card, which I didn't order, I will have to againre-box the items and return them, after trying to find the right label for the right order to print and attach and then deliver to UPS. On top of that I have to monitor my credit card to make sure thr correctrefund is made or protest the wrong posting ifthat is not done. All very time consuming with no real live person to talk to and understand my frustration. I have been a loyal Amazon customer despite your order botching and trickery in getting Washingto State residents to pay sales tas, regardless of where the merchandise is actually shipped from, taking your price right out of competiveness in my just buying these things from the store, without any such frustration or delays that I am experiencing, and then ending up paying more money for and gas money and time trying to straighten out. I guess you are too big to be concerned about one single very unhappy customer, but please do note thatI do have a very large following on my writing sites as well as some inside communication ability with some of the executives there. I would be greatly appreciative if you could do something about this problem. Thank you for trying to save a good customer. Bill Cottringer ... show more
