My head has a smallish circumference and I wondered if anyone has been able to adjust it to make it much smaller? There is a band inside with adjustable drawstring tie off,My wife has a smaller head as well, comfortable to wear all day! How is this hat while sitting in a recliner if I wanted to read outside? Flexible enough to keep wearing? Definitely flexible enough. Bends very easily and then goes right back into shape when in a different position. Love this hat for keeping the sun off my face and shoulders. How fordable or crushable is it for packing on long hot trip with many times it will be stuffed in suitcase? It folds flat and then pops back into shape. In my opinion, it's definitely worth taking with you if you're going to a hot climate. I had a sun hat made out of linen that I used for 2 years and it finally wore out and I decided to get something else and saw this and tried it. I received the hat and it was well packaged however, however there was a stitching flaw right in the front and center of the hat so I sent it back and received a second one that's just fine. Must be workmanship and sometimes that happens but otherwise this is a well-made hat and fits wonderfully, plus I really like the color. It covers the eyes too without coming down too far to obscure your vision. It is a bit heavier than my linen hat which makes sense, but not too heavy. I had to adjust it a bit but it stays on great and the chin strap works nice too it's soft. I recommend this hat, it's cute! ... show more

Notice all the models wearing the hat don't have it cinched. If you're going to stand there and pose, great; that works. If you're going to go to a windy beach or scooter around on a tropical island, the shape of the hat changes to a droopy flower. It droops where the lanyard holes are. The brim is a mere 3 1/8" and therefore is not super sun coverage. I'd rather have a hat that holds its shape (I pack them in a carry on without folding it and fill the head part with stuff). ... show more

I recently bought this hat for a week-long trip to Arizona, and it is a wonderful purchase! The hat got folded up and shoved in a very packed purse on the plane, and it looked a little crumpled when I pulled it out many hours later, but lo, overnight it went back to its shape, and it's perfect again, without any steaming or shaping! It's just the right weight, and a true, sturdy chin strap (needed up in the mountains, or I would have had it blow away). It was also (accidentally) worn in the pool and one side of the brim did get weight, but no bleeding/no stain, and no impact from the water. I have a pretty large head (a lot of 'large' size headgear is still too small.) I did buy this in the large size: this hat fit just right! For those with slightly smaller but still large noggins, there is a velcro adjustment. I've bought several hats on Amazon in the previous couple of years: most turned out to be useful for a week or so, but then the sewing gives out or the straw starts fraying, they look crumpled after one trip, and they turn out to be more Halloween costume style than a true hat... not this item! The hat is well made, actually packable, medium weight, with a real drawstring and it's flattering! I was so impressed that when I got home I bought it in another color. I'll note that the beige color is perhaps a bit thinner/lighter than the mixed black color, which is appropriate for very hot weather gear, but it's as well made as my first purchase. I cannot find any flaw in this hat, perhaps the hatband/chinstrap could be made with a slightly thinner cord, but that is my only, very weak, suggestion for improvement.
