  • Very nice fisheye zoom lens.
Very sharp, fast focus, great being able to go from circular image to a diagonal one in the same lens. It perfectly replaces the 10.5mm DX I used on full frame to get the almost circular image and the 16mm FX lens I used other times. Simply a fantastic lens.

  • High Quality, Useful Zoom range.
For some Nikon lenses, there is software out there that corrects fisheye distortion. Sometimes you want to correct the distortion, some times not. If this is important to you, you should make that your software works with this lens. Mine does not, but that is not a big problem, as I only use this lens when I want a bit of distortion. As with all my other Nikon gear, quality is first rate. BTW: If you are really serious about this purchase, there are LOTS of sites out on the web with better lens reviews than this one. ... show more

  • Hefty price, but it's worth it for my needs. Hefty price, but it's worth it for my needs.
This lens is not cheap, but the reward of having a zoom option and AF is pretty good. I have been using a 6.5mm manual focus off brand. This lens is a little bigger in size, but not as heavy as you would think. Plastic body, but doesn't feel cheap. If you want the circular affect at 8mm you need to remove the hood. Note there is a button on this hood, don't force it to turn! This is the first lens I've had with such a button, and I struggled with it until I noticed the button. Just remember once that hood is off there is nothing stopping anything hitting the glass. So be mindful when shooting. The lens is sharp. I always struggled with the manual lens I have been using, but now I can nail my focus much easier. I wish it wasn't a variable aperture, but it is what it is. I would love to see a wider and consistent f/ one day, but I'm sure that would make the lens that much more expensive. Is it worth the price? Well, I say if you have the money and accept that this probably wont stay on your camera all the time as a go to lens (unless you are specializing in fisheye) then yes, it is worth it. Several reviews online have suggested this lens for a few fun shots at wedding receptions, or event, but not as main lens for the shoot or event. If you're on a budget, think fisheye as a toy, and not a tool to get a few creative shots every now and then, no. Go with a cheaper manual focus and use it as a toy. This won't be your money maker lens for the professionals, but it could allow you to be able to offer something a little different to your clients as something fun without the patience and effort you would need with a cheaper manual lens. ... show more

  • Defective Right Out of the Box!
Just delivered and it's defective. No matter how far you zoom, the angle of view remains the same, the image just gets bigger or smaller in the viewfinder as you zoom in or out. No fisheye effect at all. Might be a one-off defective unit; we'll see when I get the replacement. Amazon will replace it now, thanks! ... show more

  • Fabulous
I previously owned the Nikon 16mm f/2.8 AF-D fisheye and this is such a huge step up from that in every way. Even though it's a zoom, however, it's more practical as a 2-step lens with 8mm and 15mm being the most suitable for work, since you otherwise experience vignetting from the camera sensor when zoomed in between, even when the hood is removed -- but this is to be expected. If I had one wish, I would have inverted the variable f/3.5-4.5 aperture to be f/3.5 at the 15mm end of the zoom range, but that's just me, as I tend to use the lens much more in its full-frame capacity, versus at the 8mm circular end. ... show more

  • Great lense. Worth the money
I bought the Nikon AF-S FISHEYE NIKKOR 8-15mm f/3.5-4.5E ED F/4.5-29 and am extremely happy. The pictures were sharp.

  • Specialty lens
Great clarity and versatility. It does take some getting used to. Just take off the sun shade. It just interferes with the field of view
