Its 3.1x zoom range covers the highly versatile 18–55mm focal length range, great for everything from wide group shots and landscapes to family sports and portraits, even in dim lighting. A retractable barrel keeps the lens extremely compact, and its sleek, lightweight design perfectly complements Nikon's latest DX-format DSLRs. Shoot beautiful photos and HD videos with ease.Outstanding Nikon image qualityUnleash the potential of your camera's high-resolution sensor. The AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR features the superb optics and advanced technology used on Nikon's high-end lenses. Two Aspherical lens elements achieve superior optical performance, giving your photos and videos rich, vibrant colors, deep contrast, minimal distortion and beautiful soft backgrounds, even in less than ideal conditions.Sharp photos, steady videosVR image stabilizationNikon's Vibration Reduction (VR) technology offsets the shakiness of handheld shooting for sharper photos and steady videos. In low- light situations, VR lets the camera use a slower shutter speed to capture sharp photos—without blur. VR image stabilization gives you the benefits of a tripod without any extra gear. Switch between Autofocus and Manual Focus or turn VR on and off using the camera menu. With no switches on the lens barrel, you have no chance of accidentally changing settings when you want to take the shot.Based on CIPA Standard. This value is achieved when DX-format compatible lenses are attached to a DX-format digital SLR camera and zoom lenses are set at the maximum telephoto position. The lens will default to VR on when attached to models released prior to the D3400: D3300, D3200, D3100, D5500, D5300, D5200, D7200, D7100, D7000. These cameras will also require a firmware upgrade to access the menu to turn off the VR. Smooth, fast autofocusNikon's Pulse MotorNikon's new "P" series of NIKKOR lenses use a pulse motor (utilizing stepping motors) to focus smoother and quieter than previous drive systems. Bring subjects into focus instantly with absolute precision. When recording video, smoothly shift focus from subject to subject with practically no drive noise. Minimum Focus Distance 0.9 feet from focal plane at all zoom positions

  • Great all around lens
*: Black
This has always been my go-to lens for all around great photography. My original broke after many years of service, but unfortunately was not worth the repair cost when compared to buying a new one. Great Nikon lens as always!

  • Works nicely.

I use it with a D7500. Results seem excellent. I have a D3200 and it won't focus with that. I knew that in advance. Do your homework on compatible cameras. It becomes small - you use that round button on the lens to lock it in small size for travel. Very quiet and focuses fast. I've heard it's good for video but didn't try yet. Again very light and small which is great for travel! I owned the VR1 (non af-p) version but may sell the older one. ... show more

  • Excellent Lens for the money
*: Black
It is a very good lens and takes great pictures for a lens at that price. I have a Nikon D7500 camera and it works great. The only con for anyone out there who is thinking of purchasing it does not work on all Nikon cameras. Make sure it will work on yours or you will be very disappointed.

  • Works OK

I dislike the lock and unlock features of this lens. Not sure why this is necessary on this small lens.

  • Excellent unit
*: Black
Works extremely well with my camera (D300). My camera unit is an older model and this item works perfectly with the unit. Not all units work with the D300 auto focus but this one does. Stay away from the P models if you have a D300 being they are not made to work with each other.

  • One of the best kit lenses on the market right now
*: Black
Great lens. Very fast AF and quite sharp throughout it's entire range. The only thing you have to watch out for is compatibility with older Nikon DSLRs. But this actually makes a nice upgrade for the 18-55 VR II lens that came with the D3300 (you have to update the firmware in the D3300 to get it to work with this lens). And it's much better for focusing in movies. Really the only minor complaint is that you have to go into the menu to turn the image stabilization on or off. Wish they would've kept it as a physical dial on the lens itself. But that is just a minor annoyance. ... show more
