I bought these thinking they were black out shades... the product description says "Elegant Tie Up Roman Shade blocks out unwanted light. Triple weave blackout fabric balances room temperature by insulating against summer heat and winter chill." This is not true. Check out the pictures. The first picture is of these balloon roman shade valences. The second is of blackout drapes - both by the same company claiming the same thing. Obviously light is coming through these. It is less light than regular shades, but still, it is not like the actual blackout curtains. Pros: They match the same color curtains from the other line of blackout shades. They are smooth and well made. Cons: They are not blackout curtains They are not wrinkle free (see picture) Overall I would not recommend to a friend in the market for blackout shades/curtains.

I purchased this shade for an odd shaped kitchen window above my sink (39" X39"). I needed the option to do blackout as I live in Las Vegas and we get 110+ degree days. These Blackouts also are insulated, and are very effective at blocking a lot of heat. Unboxing/Unbagging, it came in a standard amazon box and inside it was in a clear package, with the shade folded neatly. There were some wrinkles from the folds, so you may need to steam/iron them out before hanging. Since I was gathering them up and tying them, I just left it as is. (4 days later, the wrinkles have unwrinkled themselves out). The fabric is soft, and pliable, but fairly thick, it has the feel of microsuede. The grommets are well made and are shiny chrome in color ( if you need satin, or nickel pewter colors, this isn't a match). The color says Royal Purple, but this is more of a Plum color. I love it regardless, but if you are going for Royal Purple, this isn't it. I also have their panel curtains for my Sliding Glass door, and for my Living Room Picture window, and I also have the panels in my 2nd and 3rd bedroom. I liked the quality so much. I plan on getting one last pair for the master suite and we will have used Nicetown curtains for our entire house. I would highly recommend!!!

I was looking for the perfect kitchen curtain and this is it. It’s super cute and still allows me to look into the backyard. It’s well made and I live the way it gathers. I’ve had it up for two months now. Many of the wrinkles fell out but I still have a few. It’s definitely a keeper and I recommend this fabulous gathered curtain to all.

Ok I admit it....I needed a curtain that I could roll up because I didn't want to block my entire window but the sun turned my office and living room into an oven in the afternoon and turning sunlight into a laser-beam sure to ruin computers and discoloring pads of paper, etc. So I found these and I will admit the picture looked way too "country quaint" to me. The ribbons made my skin crawl. After much searching I bought them anyway and figured I would avoid the country look by rolling the bottom and not bunching it up. Well...I will be perfectly honest. I got the curtains and they were beautiful and high quality for the price! Very shocked! So I rolled up the curtains once, only once. A) the rolling looked stupid. B) when push came to shove I was too lazy to role them every time (I am just one person) C) bunching them does not look country quaint...just tie them underneath, leave the bow behind and you will be happy as I am. :). If you are looking for blackout curtains because you sleep during the day, are sensitive to light, are a vampire, these aren't 100% blackout curtains, at least the light grey ones I got.
