Description

The X Series model 55lb thrust electric trolling motor by Newport. This versatile and all around use trolling motor is constructed with the highest quality materials and design concepts. This trolling motor is built to last. With an adjustable 36-inch shaft length, the Newport trolling motor is built to fit all Newport inflatable boats as well as all other inflatable boats, kayaks, dinghies, tenders, fishing boats, aluminum fishing boats, and inflatables with a transom. The control box and handle can adjust up and down 30 degrees to give the rider a more comfortable ride while steering the vessels. The 8 speed control system (5 forward speeds and 3 reverse speeds) makes for a smooth and easily controlled ride. The 55lb thrust X Series electric trolling motor comes with a 3 blade propeller (10 inch diameter) for optimal performance. This transom mount motor is built to be powered by a 12-volt Lead Acid Deep Cycle battery or Marine battery (battery not included).

Awesome product for the money. It is extremely well built and runs very quiet. Plenty of thrust to push 2 big guys around on a 12 foot boat all day. All hardware is super good quality and that makes the adjustments very smooth. I have it converted with an autoboat GPS head and put on the bow of my little 12 foot plastic jon boat, and it's been in some really rough windy water. I've ran it into rocks and sand. Chopped countless weeds with it. It has held up to everything. It seems extremely energy efficient as well, my 100ah battery will last me several full days on the water before I even need to think about charging it. ... show more

This has got to be the most amazing trolling motor I have ever own.... before finding this i have use some well know brands that were junk out of the box ! I was ready to go back to using a boat paddle ... I can't say enough good things about this trolling motor we ran it all day on a 25 acre pond with some 8 to 10 mph wind on and off most of the day and got into a couple of moss beds and it ripped right through them.. I'm talking about a 16' Jon boat with two big men one ice chest six rod and reels two tackle boxes two batteries one for fish finder and one for the trolling motor and safety equipment .... going by the led meter we only used a fourth of the battery... I told my wife that I had order it after I had put it on the boat and she wasn't as happy as I was ... Its easy to ask for forgiveness than asking for permission .... A bad day on the lake is better than a great day at work! Buy one you want be disappointed! ... show more

Wow! Used on an Aquos 10.2 ft Pontoon Boat and this motor was awesome! Durable: On a new lake and hit a shallow area unexpectedly. The motor didn't have any issues. No visible damage and it was easy to raise to get out of that area. Talk about power! Tri-blade prop and 55 lb thrust got the job done. When popped into 5th, the front of the boat lifted and the rooster tail was quite enjoyable. Battery drain? Not much at all, even when in 5th. I purchased this trolling motor for a week long fishing trip in Canada. We went through a fly-in operator that only has 14' aluminum jon boats on their lake. The boats are equipped with 9.9 HP outboards, but trolling motors are a nice addition to be able to fish more comfortably. I opted for the larger 55 lb. thrust to be able to move the boat quickly. Canadian winds can be no joke and having more power gets you out of trouble in a hurry. The unit is heavy. With a 55 lb. thrust motor, I'm assuming the head is loaded with copper anodes. It is very powerful though. I was impressed at how fast it would push the little boats. Even when loaded with two adults and our gear, this motor in high gear would put out a wake. As others have mentioned, the jump from speed 4 to speed 5 is extremely large. I expected maybe a more gradual increase. If you aren't paying attention and crank it to 5, you could knock someone off their feet. The only drawbacks for me were the noise. It has a lot of vibration and noise. The handle assembly in the plastic head vibrates a lot. And the motor itself is pretty noisy. To be fair, that seems to be more and more common in transom mounted trolling motors these days. I think the larger companies like Minn Kota and MotorGuide make their money off expensive "smart" trolling motors and these transom mounted ones have become cheaply made because of that. Overall this is a good unit for the price point. It has plenty of power to move you around quickly. If you aren't fishing, this is a great buy. It would be great for moving a small tender around. If you are using it for fishing, be aware it's a little noisy. ... show more

I had always used Minn-Kota and their quality has really gone down. I bought this to use on a mini pontoon boat in a private lake and very pleased. Seems to be well built and came well packed and really pleased with the power. I believe the 3 blade prop makes a big difference. I have only had for a month but works great and battery display seems accurate. I like the fact the control will tilt up and down as I sit higher in the boat than the motor. Also is extremely quiet. It pushes the mini pontoon boat with 2 people at a nice little pace in a 7 acre lake. I would recommend it . ... show more

There is no way this motor puts out 55lbs of thrust!! Maybe 35 at best. I would return it but I'm past the return window. Oh, and it vibrates slightly at full power. Might be caused by the propeller slightly unbalanced. I do not recommend this motor. I bet it's another fine Chinese rebranded piece of crap product. ... show more
