I'm not really sure what to look for in terms of the quality of a dog crate . This is the first one I ever purchased . All I can say is that my pup who sleeps in a pen with the dog crate inside of the pen, does voluntarily sleep inside the crate at night unless it's very hot. (I do not do closed door crateing) The item is as it is represented to be. I would have given 5 stars if it came fully assembled. ... show more

I can't give this a rating from a cat's perspective, because the ferrell cat that adopted us 3 years ago won't go in it. He is somewhat domesticated, but very skittish. He injured his ear somehow, but the vet won't give us an RX to make him sleepy, so we can actually get him IN the dome to get him to the vet. So, it's been sitting in the living room for a month, as we tried to get him use to it, and he actually stuck half of his body in it and then came back out. That being said, It is very sturdy, well made, easy to snap together. I did notice that it is a tad bit smaller than another one we had for our former fur baby who had to be put to sleep after 15 years. That one had plenty of room for him to stretch out and turn around it. She was an 18 lb tabby. This cat is all muscle, about 18-20 lbs. When he tried to walk in it, we noticed it was a little narrow for him to turn around him and also when he stretches out, he is over 2 1/2' long, so, a little cramped for him. If you have an average house cat (less than 20 lbs & smaller breed), it should be perfect. ... show more

I really like this carrier. I bought it for my male cat who is quite large for his upcoming appointment to get fixed. I have it set up and open so he can become familiar with it. He seems to not mind lounging in it throughout the day.

    • Almost perfect, but 1 design flaw.
I’ve used dozens of pet carriers over the years working with rescues and this one is so close to being perfect. Pros: It’s a good size. It’s not too big but it is appropriate for an adult cat. The side latches are secure and it also has bolts if you want the top secured permanently. The interior has a removable grate so the pet does have to sit in any dirt or accidents. The front door closes and latches securely. The top door is convenient because anyone who has front loaded a cat knows how difficult it can be. Cons: There are only 2. First the cost is a bit too high. Second, the latch on the top door is not secure. It feels like it latches, but the away it is designed means the entire weight of the carrier and pet are on the latch and thin plastic. I don’t predict it will hold up to heavy pets or usage. ... show more
