Replacing a 18 yrs old Hunter brand that we had put in shortly after buying the house. Old one worked ok and was programmable, but I questioned it temp accuracy after this many years. This was easy to install. Our house is older and didn't need all the options this had, but was nice to have them if needed. Programing pretty stright forward and very similar to our old one for the basic programming. But this had a set up area that has many more options that did take a while on reading the instructions. But easy enough and nice to be able to change some of those settings. Our old ones was a 5-2 set up this one had that and other options. Still playing around with them trying to find the right combo. But will say it does seem to run the AC more efficiently. Only the electric bill will tell the tale. But it does seem to run less often/but more. If that makes since. Old one could run for an hour before shutting off then be off for 45 mins of so then run another hour+. This one runs in shorter burst persay. 15 mins on, 20-30 mins off. Overall though running this newer way does make it nicer it seems in the house. After that hour or so off it can start to get a bit warm and muggy before a cycle. Display is much bigger than the old one and has backlight. So much easier to read and set up than the old. Id have replaced it just for that. lol Overall happy with it. Next is time. How long with it work. Will update if need and it craps out sooner than I would like.

Great t-stat -is easy to install. Our wall unit was impossible to read the LCD backlight had become brighter than the digital read out of temp etc. Was very frustrating game of trying to find a good angle and adjust. If the lcd brightness is adjustable we wouldn't know cause we especially could not see the smaller details on the lower screen - is the heat on / ac/ fan ??? This was so worth getting instantly solved all of it! This unit had exact matching ports for our system - we checked before ordering by pulling old one off the wall and writing down the port used ( w1,w2, c, r ,y etc.. ) then just check the pictures for compatibility! If you are unsure how to release current unit from the wall as i was ( felt i might break it) this info is pretty readily available - I snapped photo of ours and found manual since we had no idea where ours was. But if you dont see screws inside a door some where on the unit - it likely just pulls straight off- In most cases. I was trying to slide it upwards so im glad i took a look! Used flat plastic scraper to pop off each side. Pop off one side while keeping other hand near( in case it come off easier than expected) then pop off the other side while holding with other hand to prevent 1st side from reclicking into place;) good luck ! Would 100% recommend should have done this year ago! Works like a charm ! Accuracy at tstat confirmed - if your having issues with temp in home past tstat concider its location. We installed vent booster fans this year on far end of home with excellent results !

Installation was easy and instructions were excellent. All that was needed was a Phillips screwdriver and an awl (to poke a hole in the wall for the wall anchors (provided) and two AA batteries to power the thermostat. Optionally, a level is handy to get it aligned perfectly. Most phones have a level app or you can eyeball it if needed. Once installed, setup was pretty easy too. Again, the manual walks you through it. One feature I really like is that you can specify if you want weekday/weekend programming, weekday plus separate Saturday and Sunday programming or 7 individual day programming. This simplifies programming because if you don't want to program each day or each weekend day separately, you can disable that. You can also program the minimum temp for heat so no one can inadvertently program it too low, causing pipes to freeze. Once you complete the setup, programming is the last step. You have up to 4 programmable temps each day (wake-up, away, return and sleep) each of which can be enabled or disabled and you can set time/temp for each. The backlight comes on automatically when you press any button and you can override the programming easily by just pressing the temp up or down buttons. When you override, you can select whether you want to hold the override temp until the next program, hold permanently or cancel the override and resume the program. Everything is simple and straight forward. This thermostat is very nice and can be as simple or complex as you need it. This model doesn't include WiFi but I didn't need that. For me, this is a 5 star product in every way.

I am replacing an existing Honeywell programmable thermostat (model RTH7600D). I prefer the physical buttons on the new one versus the touch screen controls of the old one. Otherwise, both thermostats have pretty much the same features in terms of setting schedules. This review is primarily about the differences in the installation and how it may affect somebody in a similar situation. As seen in the attached pictures, the back plate of the old thermostat has 2 screws several inches apart while the new plate has 3 screws much closer together in a triangular configuration. This means you will need to drill 3 new holes and likely patch up the 2 existing ones. Also, the new thermostat is slightly smaller widthwise and so the wall may show some color difference at the edges if it has not been recently painted.
