This is great - three circular "nests" for our cats to lie in, plus a sisal rope scratching post. Our cats were on it and in it immediately. It seems very sturdy and well made. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was almost completely assembled, with only the top platform needing attaching. NOTE: Many reviewers have complained about the assembly process.Yes, it would be better if the box included a tip sheet with directions - and even better if those tips were also included in the item description. Here's my tip sheet: 1. If the central post appears to be split, stop right there - don't take it out of the box, and have it picked up and returned. I don't know how often this defect occurs, but ours was fine. 2. Yes, you will need an electric screwdriver for assembly. It can be assembled by one person, but that needs to be someone with a little screwdriver experience because it takes some force to place the three screws. (The screw heads are standard Phillips, nothing exotic needed.) If you don't have a screwdriver, scout around for a handy friend while you're waiting for the cat tree to arrive. 3. There are three screws in the top platform that have been started, so there's no problem knowing where to place them. However, the job is easier if you first drive all three screws through the platform until they emerge underneath. (Hold the platform on its side while doing this.) Once the tips of the screws are exposed, it is easy to place the platform on the post and position it so that all three screws will go into the post. 4. Finish driving the screws, which magically disappear into the carpeting. Move the tree into its final position and stand back - your cats are going to make a beeline for it! ... show more

What's the sound of two pieces of a cat tree being assembled? Me, cursing for over 90 minutes. It seems like this thing is going to be easy to put together, when it arrives in just 2 pieces. Two hours later, we were done! The problem is that the screws are pre-drilled into the top shelf and there are no guide holes in the post to line the screws up on. The 3 screws (I got 4 for some reason) are fairly arbitrarily drilled through the top shelf, so when I tried to screw them all down through the post, they came out the sides. I had to remove all 4 screws and re-drill them so that they were straight and within the circumference of the post (careful when drilling through carpet...). Even then, lining them up with the post wasn't easy and after several different approaches I ended up with about a dozen extra screw holes in the post. The way we finally got the screws lined up (after correcting how they were drilled into the shelf) was to lightly tap each with a hammer while someone held the shelf atop the post. This left 4 correctly spaced marks through which I drilled guide holes, after which we were done in minutes. Thankfully, once it's assembled, it's pretty great! It's very sturdy—I don't worry about my guy jumping down from even the top shelf—and the rope scratcher is now the favorite scratching post in the house (somehow even better than my couch). Good product; worth a buy. To the manufacturer: please, PLEASE drill some guide holes in the post. ... show more
