  • Its quality depends on your mindset towards it-
Format: Paperback
In short, a good way to get introduced to Zero-One and Kamen Rider as a franchise, but as a long-time fan, it felt a little lackluster. Pros: Possibly my favorite part of the graphic novel release was the corrections made from the issue release. They fixed an error in a character bio, a typo, and updated the art of the infamous Flying Falcon progrisekey page! I did genuinely enjoy the art most of the time, and there were a bunch of memorable scenes. The plot was about as good as I was expecting for a one-off run, but it was still nice. I did genuinely love the scene towards the end with the other Rider Machines. It didn't make the most sense, and was a bit silly, but it was cool! Cons: Plenty of other art issues weren't touched, which is a shame, but isn't a deal breaker. Amazing Caucasus my beloved, haha! The story itself is a fine and dramatic one. It feels weirdly high-stakes for something which apparently happens quite early on in the series, but again, if it's not read into too much, it's alright. To be nitpicky, the paper quality feels weirdly lower than the issues, which were nice and glossy. Odd issue, but it's the most obvious one for me when comparing back to the original release. There is definitely effort being put into the release. I absolutely appreciate and respect the art and the dedication it took to draw the Riders consistently this many times. The spine has a nice big "1" at the top (missed opportunity to say "01" smh /j), but I'm genuinely hoping there's more to come. Overall, 7/10? It depends on how you choose to read it. In my eyes, the comic toes the line between "nice little Kamen Rider story superhero comic, better than I expected" and "is this even still supposed to be Zero-One", but I honestly had fun with it either way. ... show more
