  • ALIENWARE AREA 51: The best Prebuilt AI PC
I bought the AAT2250 after waiting for it to go on sale. I have the 285k/5090/4TB SSD/64GB DDR5. I had the old Area 51 with a 5960x/ RTX 3090/32GB DDR4 and 8TB SSD. It was a fantastic machine, but the CPU and GPU started showing their age and I decided to upgrade to this new machine. Alienware has done an excellent job building this new machine. The CPU, GPU, RAM, SSD and PSU are interchangeable and the motherboard in this case can be upgraded down the line when newer technology comes to market. BUT, you probably won't need to upgrade: modern games aren't extremely demanding and 1080p - 1440p tends to be where most people will be playing since the ultra wide monitors typically don't come in 4K. Alienware offers 34" monitors with 188 fps refresh rates which either of these Area 51 builds can run with ease. There are plenty of USBa ports and plenty of USBc ports in the back for my Flight simulater peripherals and the top of the system has 2 USBa, 2 USBc a mic and a headphone 3.5mm jack. Bluetooth is also included so you can use a mouse, keyboard and headphones completely wirelessly. Considering the price of this machine, it would have been nice if the included keyboard and mouse weren't standard Dell - and they would give us a Bluetooth Alienware Keyboard and mouse. Wifi is also built in. All of the ports support high transfer rate 5gbps or 10 gbps so you can pretty much get the most out of any peripheral. Wireless VR is also supported. This new case has a lot of positives. There is a custom metal bracket designed to hold the card and prevent it from sagging. Heavy cards can damage the motherboard over time. Every since cable is labeled and figuring out what goes where is easy. The case is full ATX, large, metal and feels of high quality. There are plenty of fans producing intake and output pressure and the machine overall runs quiet. My only disappointment was that Alienware includes an AIO for the CPU, but didn't consider including an AIO for the card itself. The 285k and the 5090 generate a lot of heat and AIO cooling has been shown to reduce the temperature by at least 20 degrees. The AIO 5090 cards on the market are over $3000 on their own. It would have been noteworthy to have a prebuilt with full liquid cooling. This machine, whether you have the 5080 or 5090, 265k or 285k is an absolute beast. You can run any game on the market in maximum settings. Unfortunately the 5080 was not given 24GB of VRAM like the 4090 was but a 5080 Super is coming and it will feature more VRAM so it can properly outperform the 4090. The 5090 however is top of the heap with a 32GB VRAM capacity and ready to take on just about anything you throw at it. 64GB of DDR5 is also a large chuck of memory and pretty much no game will need that much. Some apps do spike in their memory demands and 64GB will future proof you for a while. There are just two DIMM slots and 3 m.2 slot with 1 in use for the 4TB OS boot. There are spaces available on back for two sata 2.5 SSD drives and space for one HDD next to the PSU. The 1500W PSU is ready to handle any card you have - or any future card. I immediately bought a Cricial BX500 to increase my storage capacity for games. As of 12-20-2025, there is a RAM price spike due to AI Data centers demanding RAM and SSD storage. I'm glad I bought this computer and even happier I got it at the price I got it ($4799). I'm also thankful I bought a 4TB drive to add on as Crucial is exiting the SSD market. This computer is also available with AMD's best CPU models: the 9950x3D and 9800x3D. Of course, the AMD graphics cards are nowhere near as powerful as Nvidia's best so you can option in the 5080 or 5090. I can keep this machine at least 10 years before I need to upgrade again - possibly to the next Area 51. This is more than just a gaming PC for me. It's an investment. ... show more
