  • Great extender for WiFi 6
Style: 1.75 Gbps, WiFi 6 | Tower
I use Google fiber and was having issues with our WiFi and they upgraded us to a newer WiFi 6 router. We found the issues with our Google fiber extender were because with it being located in the basement, it would not get a good enough signal to extend the WiFi. The new extender had to stay upstairs which left our basement (where my main PC is located) with bad WiFi signal. I was debating between one like this or just another Google fiber extender and went ahead and got this to help with the basement and it has definitely done the job! The extender itself was insanely easy to setup. Just plugged it in, downloaded the app, and entered some basic setup info. After that everything was up and running. On top of increasing the signal for the basement I wanted to be able to connect my main PC directly to the new extender and can say this has made significant increases to my PC internet speed. I play a lot of competitive online games and with my current setup I can’t hardwire directly to the router so this is the best I can do, but it works great! Before this extender I couldn’t even play games with how laggy it would get. Now my games are running smooth and my downloads speeds are better as well! ... show more

  • Works really well
Style: 1.8 Gbps, WiFi 6 | Tower
I was amazed at how much this improved my home wifi. Setup was okay. Not too hard. Devices connect very quickly and speedtest is a vast improvement. Would buy this again in a heartbeat.

  • Easy to install on existing Netgear Router/Modem, but signal is not as strong as expected
Style: 1.8 Gbps, WiFi 6 | Wallplug
I purchased this because my WiFi security cameras weren't getting good signal from my router --- I'm above-average with technology and was able to install this extender on my existing Netgear Nighthawk Router and Modem via the app on my smartphone in about 5 minutes. It improved the signal on my existing networks, which is nice as some signal extenders only add another network instead of boosting existing networks/SSIDs. My only complaint is that the signal wasn't as strong as I expected in some areas of my home, but overall it accomplished what I needed it to do and I'm happy with the product. Personally I think this is most useful if you already have existing Netgear equipment that it can seamlessly integrate with. ... show more

  • Nice Range and stability.
Style: 1.6Gbps, WiFi 6 Wallplug
After trying few other brands for similar price point, the value and performance of this unit is priceless. The only problem was that after installation and configuration the app will not recognize the unit. Read the forums and support website and found out about an update. I then applied the update and the app recognized the unit and now I can control it from the app. I am happy with my purchase. ... show more

  • Might Work For Others - Useless For Me
Style: 6 Gbps, WiFi 6 | Tower
I bought this to extend a WiFi signal from an older Netgear Router to the other side of our house. The signal from the old router would work, but was slow and spotty at that distance. This unit worked great right out of the box. It extended the signal and seemed to have almost no loss in speed. Very happy But we live on the periphery of the power grid, and have frequent power outages, usually no more than a second or two. Probably once a week or so. After every power failure, the cable modem and older unit come back fine, but this EAX80 flashes a red light on the front panel and just sits there. It isn't until I notice the WiFi speed has dropped back that I know to go reset it, as it's in an inaccessible place where I can't see the red light. As soon as I power cycle it, it comes up running again until the next power failure. If you never have power failures this might be a great product, but for me it only works a few days out of every week. It's probably because it comes up faster than the cable modem, so there is no signal for it to forward. As such I could probably fix it with UPS units on the cable modem, the old router, and this thing. But right now it's pretty much useless I have contacted Netgear Support. Update : After three emails with Tech Support they were still not convinced I either owned one or purchased it properly from Amazon. Gave up. I no longer think the problem is power failures, it just every now and then drops the signal and won't hook back up until you reset it. The concept of having the same Network SSID that you're extending was interesting for me because I have a ReadyShare drive on the main router, and use that to transfer files from one computer to another around the house. Only, with this thing, the ReadyShare only works a very small percentage of the time. Not enough to make it useful anymore. To get around this I shut off the extended and just use the direct 2.4ghz signal, although it's very weak. A problem with the "Same SSID" concept is that when the extender isn't working, you can't tell unless you notice that the WiFi icon has dropped from 4 rings to one. Giving up and storing it in a closet somewhere ... show more
