  • A Great Router of this Last Generation of WIFI 5
Well, I have bought this XR300 and the AX8 WiFi 6 router at the same time. And to test which one is easier for set up just right out of the box. This router only took me 15 minutes from opening the box til set up online using. Quite simple, just using the method of circle through the basic setup. Power down the modem, then router. And then reboot. That’s all it took ! But man, that was another story for setting up the AX8. No matter what I used or did, I just couldn’t connect it to the internet. First I used the night hawk app to set up, didn’t work. Then I tried to use the web base admin to login, but still failed. Either one stated router not found. What the heck? Even though all lights are on . I think this one might have malfunction and I requested amazon to exchange for another one. Hopefully it will be ok. One thing I will mention here is I have read a reviewer wrote a “ One Star “ for this high performance XR300 router. He said when he connects the wired from his PC to the modem directly, his internet speed will be blazing fast. Such as 800 or 900mb per second. But when he switches to this XR300 router for WiFi, then the speed will decrease dramatically just around 350mb. He said that it should be close to 1Gig per second or faster because he has signed up for one Gig contract with his ISP. So he stated this router is garbage. I really don’t know if this reviewer knows anything or a little bit of networking knowledge. Hey, if you know a little bit of technology for computer, you should know WiFi speed WILL NEVER faster or more stable than WIRED. There are a lot of things which are related to the WiFi speed that you will gain. For example: Location, Distance, and what gadgets you are using, etc........ Some people even claim their Upload speed is way way ahead of his Download speed. Such as 800mb for upload and 200mb something for download. Are you kidding me ? Anyway, this is a very good router for streaming 4K movies or playing online games. I live in a bi-level house and I can stream 4K videos from Netflix or YouTube without a buffing or lag at lower floor about 20 to 30 feet from the router. ( note my router is located on upper floor at far corner). It is very stable and performs very well! Oh make sure you also have a decent modem to match with it. This is absolutely important too. ... show more

  • This router is AWESOME.
The Nighthawk XR300 is a beast, and it’s even the lower end model of the Netgear Pro Gaming routers. I can’t imagine the power of the other two, but for my purposes and the price point - the XR300 is all I need. I upgraded from an older Nighthawk AC1900 (R7000) that served me well for many years. When I upgraded my internet to GB speeds (AT&T 1000), and knew the demand for lag-free internet was going to be a must for gaming, day trading, and online school, while also supporting my family’s internet usage. The XR300 has NOT disappointed in any of these areas. Physically, it’s almost identical to the AC1900 but the performance increase is under the hood. Besides having extremely responsive, smooth bandwidth, I’d have to say the best part of the router is the setting controls. The interface (DUMAOS) is a significant upgrade from the AC1900. Very aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly application with tutorials and answers readily available. A gamer can easily adjust traffic and prioritize bandwidth to their game, device, or however they see fit - and to top it all off, this can all be completed very simply, regardless of networking knowledge or skills. Initial setup was a breeze, and today the household internet is just as fast and smooth as it was on day one with the XR300. Bottom line: This router was crafted to perform, and it does! ... show more

  • Woah!
This router has some pretty amazing features for its price and works flawlessly as it is intended to. The DumaOs geofilter is extremely helpful with getting a good ping and low latency. The router caters to competitive gamers who are looking for that edge with plenty of good features. Recommend this router to anyone looking to manage the data being used by different devices as it give you complete control over your internet. Thank you NETGEAR! ... show more

  • Working pretty well now
Can be somewhat difficult to troubleshoot and adjust in the settings but for the most part it’s pretty easy, might have to reboot after adjusting the settings in DumaOS to see them in effect but overall happy with the router so far! You can see the adjustments you make are actually working and implemented via speed tests and on your video games especially the geo filtering which is pretty cool! It’s sort of difficult to figure out the buffer bloat and how much you should move the slider because the recommended 70% wasn’t working well for me. ... show more

  • Crashes a lot, terrible interface
Interface is beautiful - and totally made by someone who has NEVER used a router before. All the important features are buried under sub-menus, and the useless graphs take forever to load and have NO HISTORICAL DATA - they only record from when you login to the interface. There's no way to even see rates at certain times, etc. I've had problems with it crashing and dropping my ppoe connection as well. Checking crash logs is nearly impossible and useless when I can remember which sub-sub-menu they are under. The "Gaming" features haven't been useful to me since most games automatically connect you to the closest gateway anyways. Oh and the first one I got had a nonfunctioning wan port (was amazon warehouse, so maybe a return). Amazon replaced promptly though. 1) Useful problem debugging features are hidden too well (who logs into their router when there is NOT a problem?) 2) Unstable I wish I'd shelled out more for the more professional ubiquity routers. ... show more
