  • Android software does not work.
The device is installed and working, but I am supposed to be able to access settings from the Android app which I used to set it up. The app insisted that the setup failed and will not recognize the device on my network, though the device seeems to be working fine. I have factory reset and tried again with the same results. I thought perhaps a firmware update was needed (though the Android software should ahve handled that during installation), but I can't even log into the device from my browser. ... show more

  • MAC address typo
Unit works as expected but MAC address at router was different from unit sticker. This is a problem if you manually input the address. My guess is this is why it ended up returned and refurbished. Should have been caught. Tried telling NetGear my findings to no avail. The 4's and A's were confused for each other. Someone needed a bit more coffee. ... show more

  • did not extend signal
This interfered instead of extending. Followed all the directions and couldn't get it to work. Item returned.

  • Almost 5 stars.
This worked well for extending our range. Our house is older and has lathe and plaster that doesn't allow signals to go through. When we upgraded our dsl line they moved it to the opposite end of the house, meaning no internet to the main living spaces. Not helpful. (Thanks hubby) Anyhow, I ran cable through the attic to a switch, and connect this to the switch. Works great. My one complaint is when it loses power, it loses its settings. Every. Single. Time. The setup isn't too difficult, but it is rather annoying when you have to do it more than once. Otherwise, I've been very happy with this extender. ... show more

  • Buy a Refurbished!
Refurbished is the way to go! These extenders help provide full wireless coverage throughout my house. We have our main router on the first floor, and an extender in the basement and another extender upstairs. The setup is fairly easy, and tech support is very helpful if you call them. You cannot name all your networks the exact same name and travel through the house on the same network. Instead, when I go upstairs, I have to switch to the network that is broadcast by the upstairs extender, and same for when I go into the basement. This can be a bit of a hassle, but a lot of times, my iPad is smart enough to auto switch for me because of the difference in signal strength. Iโ€™ve owned these for 6 months and have had no issues. ... show more

  • Poor signal
Got this for better signal on my ring cameras but it only works half the time and cameras still tell me itโ€™s the WiFi signal

  • This was the solution to my problem.
I have a problem getting WiFi through a bearing wall to two rooms over a garage. I have Verizon gigabit Fios coming in the basement at the other end of the house. In one of these rooms the speed was only passable, in the other it was impossibly slow. I have tried to solve the problem with an alternative router and two other extenders with little improvement. This one does the trick. In the room where it is setup I have wired the Netgear Extender directly to a desk machine. It provides a much faster connection than I can get using the computer's WiF directly. (How do they do that?) Over the garage I get a good strong signal in both rooms. I bought it "renewed" for a good price and I am very satisfied. ... show more
