Be sure they’re compatible with your switch and network. These didn’t work on poe switch because it wasn’t Poe+. There’s a restocking fee for any retuned opened products. Customer support is excellent if you have any questions before your purchase - please call them.

I'm a technician that requires internet (wireless is soo much easier) to accomplish tasks and this baby right here gives you just about a full acre of signal range if not more if its not limited by obstacles. POE powered via a POE switch or using the netgear power supply (12v 2.3 amp I believe, sold separately), have tested both ways and works like a charm. I needed to update an access point in my home network. This model has all 3 bands: 2.5g, 5g and the new 6g bands. My house has 6 neighboring houses and 2 more houses across a street in front of it. That makes 9 households that could all be using wifi. I wanted to be able to use some wifi channels that everybody else were not already using. Can you say wifi 6E? Not many people even know that the 6ghz band even exists yet. Perfect for me! My new phone and laptop are both 6E devices. I still have a bunch of older devices that are at wifi 5 (802.11ac) and even wifi 4 (892.11an) level. They are slower and can use the very crowded 2.4g or less crowded 5g bands. I started to use the Netgear insight program to try setup my replacement access point. I did not like the settings that it wanted to use. I quickly aborted that process and had to call customer support to get my device removed from their cloud management system. (The insight system wanted to try to create a mesh system. I just use multiple access points to eliminate weak signal areas. My devices don't move around. Some may be portable, but they don't move when they are being used.) After I got my device released from the cloud setup was easy for me. I implemented my security so that unknown devices cannot join my network and now I have wifi 6E in 2/3 of my house. My number one gripe is that there is no way to install a new TLS certificate for the web UI--you're stuck with the self-signed cert that is generated/shipped with the device. This is basic functionality that shouldn't be lacking in _any_ device with a web UI these days. Otherwise, the feature set seems good and I haven't had issues with dropped clients or poor WiFi performance. The web UI is a bit slow to load the initial dashboard after logging in and it's not as easy to maneuver as I would like, but all-in-all these UI items aren't show-stoppers. I probably would have bought a different brand if I knew up front that I couldn't put my own certificate in there. ... show more

Bought this AP to get rid of lag and stutter on my Oculus Quest 2 with Virtual Desktop and this device did not disapoint but there were a few caveats. I have a Netgear R8000-100NAR router which is perfect for my home and the 6 people that live here. The extra 5GHz AC stream was a great upgrade from my Netgear R6400 which was dying and required weekly reboots when it hung. Most of my family does not have Wifi 6 devices anyway so 802.11ac was fine for them and the general coverage on the R8000 is really good. But enough about that. I bought an Oculus Quest 2 about a month ago. I learned I could bypass the link cable with Virtual Desktop to play my SteamVR games wirelessly. But the old router (and new one) was lagging and stuttering. I was getting the cap 866MBps with 25-40ms latency. My router is on the opposite end of the house and has to send wireless through 5 walls, a microwave, and refrigerator to get to where I use my Oculus for roomspace VR. I considered the fact that I'd made a terrible mistake with the R8000 and should have gotten a Wifi 6 router. But the R8000 was on sale and was a great buy for the price since its not new tech anymore. And even an AX router was not going to cut it here because of signal drop-off so I decided to buy and place this AP on the far end of the house where I use my Oculus the most. It is a dramatic improvement when playing VR from my PC to the Quest 2 headset and am getting a solid 1.2Gbps with 15-25ms latency. Games run smooth without stutter or artifacting (beyond what is happening with my really old gaming rig). So long story short, it's working and it works great. Here's what hit me though. Not that this is anything against the device but be aware and it might save you a headache. When I first plugged it in and tested, I was actually getting worse or equal performance to my 866Mbps AC connection. I wasn't really happy with that considering it's supposed to be faster. Firmware update didn't fix it. I knew the AP didn't come with an AC Adapter (12V - 2.5A), and I was okay with that. I had some really nice Cisco and Lucent PoE adapters for some SIP phones that I figured would work fine. But I was just casually looking at the AP and realized the power LED was amber. Looking in the AP notifications it said reduced throughput because of low power. I tried both brands of injectors to no avail, but remembered I had my AC adapter from the old R6400 router. Plugged it in instead and boom. Power LED went green, and the performance went through the roof. My point is this is a great AP., but make sure you have a suitable power adapter or the proper PoE injector for this particular AP as the industry standard ones I tried didn't work with it. ... show more

Very easy to setup using the Netgear Insight portal. I'm not sure how I feel about using a subscription cloud service to manage my devices but I'll try it out for a year during the included free trial. I can't deny that this Netgear AP is much easier to manage than the Ubiquiti AP AC Lite it replaces. I like that the obnoxious LED indicators can be turned off. If you, like me, are replacing an existing PoE-powered access point be sure to check if your equipment supports PoE+. My router only supports passive PoE so I needed to order a PoE+ injector to use this access point. ... show more
