  • Extremely nice and internet stayed the same speed
Style: 5 Port
I used this for my gaming pc and my home security system. I was running a cat8 Ethernet cable to my pc before and was getting 750mbps and when connecting this I was expecting to see some drop in the mbps. When I plugged in my pc and security system I was still getting 750mbps. It is extremely nice and very durable. I haven’t touched it since and I have had zero problems with it! ... show more

  • Great low power full speed network switch
Style: 5 Port
I picked up a cable that has a DC barrel connector on one end, and a regular USB type-A connector (male) on the other, so I could plug the switch into always-on USB ports for power. I have done this with two of these netgear gs305's and both have worked flawlessly. I often push large files across my LAN, and often see 500-600Mbps transfer speeds between devices. I enabled jumbo frames (9000 MTU) on both sides to get a little more speed, and have no problems at all. I could probably get faster speeds, but I also have a 50 foot flat ethernet cable in between, so I think that's reducing my speed a little bit down from 1 gigabit. I've seen bidirectional speeds over 500Mbps both up and downlink simultaneously, so I'm really happy with the switch's performance. If I re-wired to proper cat6, it might go faster, but as it is, it's plenty fast and remains cool to the touch. It runs fine on USB power (5V regular USB), so the watts it draws is as advertised. It's just a great, compact, power-savings and fast gig-e switch! Enjoy! ... show more

  • Netgear device arrived fast and was crazy easy to plug and play set up.
Style: 5 Port with Enhanced Features
I have not been all that happy with my WIFI signal. I added a Google Mesh, had Frontier out to check my radio signals for 2.4 and 5 Ghz. They replaced my router, but I still couldn't get more than 200mb/sec down. So, I decided to go CAT5 but needed a switch in my cable box to connect the house cables to. After using a CAT5 tester it was easy to figure out which rooms went where...plugged their respective CAT5s into the Netgear, and the rooms in question came alive. I'm now getting 500 mb/sec down in all cases, which is great for desktops. The wifi is perfectly adequate for streaming services and surfing. But, internet intensive activities are always best suited to hard connections. ... show more

  • A great box!
Style: 5 Port
I just received this today, and extremely happy with this device! Like a lot of people I prefer wired Ethernet connections even with a router, so why not just use this? And I did and I am very pleased and highly recommend. With many routers one gets interference and lower speeds and fluctuating speeds at times...and with this you are simply expanding one to multiple outs. All outs retain full speeds. I would not see why anyone would want the managed version with software as that is likely only going to complicate things for no reason whatsoever. It could not easier or better...plug and play. ... show more

  • Dependable
Style: 5 Port
It's not a router it's an Ethernet switch and it works just the way it is supposed to. It has just the right amount of ports for a small home network and it is very dependable.

  • Greater traffic capacity than other small inexpensive switches.
Style: 5 Port, 2.5 Gigabit
Simple plug and play. Has 2.5 gb rate which works well for an unlink. Runs a little warm. Very happy with unit.
