  • I went from Nespresso to an EMC machine, back to nespresso
Color: Black Stainless Steel
I had one of the original Vertuo machines and loved it. I then felt an urge to be more authentic and wanted to use my own beans and make my own espresso. I "upgraded" to a Breville machine which was more complicated with tamping, manually filling purchased beans. I subsequently felt an urge to take things up another notch since the Breville was still using shortcuts with simple tamping, grinding and no need to manually measure weight of beans and volume of espresso shorts. I ending up buying an ECM machine and setup for $5k... it was fun for a year, I learned to make amazing espresso and mixed drinks. However, the excitement did not last and the passion dissipated. I realized I had not make an espresso for over 2 years because it required too much effort- machine took 5-10 min to just heat up, plus i needed to keep a stock of fresh beans etc + needed to adjust grinder settings and test with every new batch of beans + clean up etc. I finally decided I was making my life unnecessarily difficult and a desire to be an espresso expert was not my goal in life. I sold the ECM for a huge loss and decided on a simpler life- back to Nespresso. I saw that they now offered this model which looked beautiful (Black Stainless is the best color scheme by FAR). It doesn't look like an antique time machine like the ECM machine which was beautiful, but it also doesn't cost >3k for the machine and another 1.5k+ for the entire setup (grinder, Weber accessories). This machine is outstanding for those wanting excellent espresso +/- milk without the effort. Unlike my first Vertuo machine which had a crappy milk frother with a capsule that spun, this has a real milk frother that gets the milk foamed up perfectly. Also, from someone who used a real frother on a "real" espresso machine, I can't explain how impressive it is to get similar results on this machine with basically NO effort. You also buy sealed capsules which are a bonus- correct quantity + always fresh + high quality beans sourced. This saves a lot of time and effort researching beans, testing grinding measurements and maintaining a fresh supply... you pay a bit more for the capsules, but the work has been done for you and you get valuable time back. If you truly love the whole experience and have the money, go all out like I did in the past... but again, if you value simplicity in life and want to focus on other aspects of life, enjoy a great espresso with minimal effort then you can't go wrong with this machine. This machine also has some flexibility- you can purchase "coffee" capsules which are basically by default made as americanos buy the machine.. but if you double click the machine, it concentrates into an espresso which is great for making flat whites, cappuccinos etc. Last, a true espresso connoisseur will say that these machines don't make a real espresso since they don't use high pressure to push water through bean and extract the flavor. No one cares. This is close enough in terms of taste with 1/10 the effort and 1/10 the cost. ... show more

  • Buyer beware, fatal issue involving leaking water from under the unit....
Color: Brushed Stainless Steel
I truly wish I could give this machine more stars. However, buyer beware. First, this machine is beautiful and it makes a good beverage. There is a design flaw. Water pours out of the bottom of the unit, and it seems it's by design. The excess water is to flow into a bottom tray when frothing milk. This is NOT water that is from dripping, this is water that exits the water tank in mass via a tube. That tube, is somewhat directed into the bottom tray. Problem is it comes out with such force that it ejects from th bottom middle of the machine and over shoots the tray. There are many reports of this. I purchased this unit and had to return it because it always has water under the machine and there is no fix. You are paying. lot of money for a pretty machine, however - they are all defective......... Nespresso-Breville, hope you are listening and come out with a retrofit for this unit or a re design..... ... show more

  • Never works
Color: Black Stainless Steel
I'm not happy with this machine at all. I do all the maintenance as recommended but still doesn't work well . I paid quite a bit of money for this machine and it never works properly. It's cleaned , descaled wiped down and it's always not working. So disappointed. It worked well for the first month and after that the issues begin. ... show more

  • A Coffeemaker Made in Heaven!
Color: Brushed Stainless Steel
I adore this gorgeous machine! I was hesitant at first, because many reviewers complained about water overflowing from the base onto their countertops. Easily rectified, I discovered that once morning coffee was over, all I had to do was remove the bottom tray with its black plastic insert, along with the silver overplate…empty the bottom tray of the water collected after the steamer purged itself…and VOILA! No problems! The other trick I had to learn, through trial and error, was to get the richest coffee - whether straight espresso, or a latte, was to use the double press (expert) push of the start button. It intensifies the taste of the coffee, albeit lessening the liquid volume (for those seeking larger servings). While I used to enjoy whipping up a large helping of steamed milk foam with a separate frother (giving me mountains of foam), the coffee in my old Vertuo Nespresso machine was weak and watery tasting in comparison. I set the milk temperature at high and my coffee arrives at the table hot and fragrant. Then there’s the SPEED! My coffee takes a fraction of the time to brew, so I find I can finish prepare mine in record time after serving my partner. We can actually enjoy our morning fix together now! The only complaint (and it’s really not a biggy) is the initial volume of the coffee-maker as it brews certain pods. (Eg, it’s not consistent). Sounds like a roaring wildcat! Better than my partner roaring as he awaits his morning cuppa though, so all-in-all, I’m a happy camper. Did I mention that this shiny stainless coffeemaker looks like a piece of fine art in my kitchen? No? Well…it does! I LOVE this machine! Thank you Nespresso. 😊 ... show more
