  • Great Shade!
Color: Teal
We were waiting for a second set of poles to arrive and decided to take our Neso to our local park to do a test run on it before we go to the beach later this summer. We have only ever had traditional canopies for our outdoor adventures and I have to say this was super easy to set up and use. Granted we did not fill the bags with sand(we don’t have beaches in WV), we just staked it in the ground for our test run. Setting up with stakes took all of 3 minutes to accomplish, we imagine filling the bags with natural elements like sand will take a bit longer but seems like maybe only an extra 10 minutes with 2 of us working on it at the same time. We had about 10MPH breezes rolling through and the Neso didn’t even notice the breeze. I think the only thing I would say is a con is that it doesn’t come with any type of shovel or anything to help you get natural elements into the sand bags. But that’s easily remedied if you buy a folding shovel(we will before our beach trip), it will fit easily into the bag, as the carrying bag has extra room in there. A feature I didn’t realize was there… The carrying bag has an insulated pouch to carry a cold drink or two. Which is a nice touch. All in all, the set up was easy It provided sufficient shade for our family of 4. Didn’t budge in 10MPH breeze. Got a few compliments. Easy take down. Taking down and packing up was a breeze, so much easier than a traditional canopy. We are really happy with the performance and ease of use for this product. Update: Took our Neso sun shade out for its maiden voyage on the beaches of Outer Banks. The first day within the first 2 hours both poles snapped in half. Luckily we had purchased an extra set of poles before we left for the beach. Could by user error as we had only set it up at our local park before our beach vacation where there was a small breeze. The rest of our vacation our extra set of poles kept our Neso up, so as I said the snapping of the first 2 poles could have just been user error or a manufacturing issue. Setting it up, using sand to fill the bags was a breeze, quick and almost effortless. I had mentioned thinking we would need a shovel, but I was wrong, it was easy to fill the bags by hand and probably faster than using a shovel. We also took an extra step and buried the bags in the sand, which I think helped to keep the bags stable in the high winds. Taking down, I thought we would have issues with sand wanting to stick to the bag, but again I was wrong, if you shake the bags out properly, the sand doesn’t stick in the bags. All in all we are very happy with our purchase of our Neso Sunshade. We are sad that we are back down to one set of poles as we would like to have the additional set for other applications. ... show more

  • Slick and effective in wind.
Color: Teal
I grew up, going to Lake Powell and Mexico to beaches where wind is always an issue, and we use pop-up shades as known throw-always after each season. I decided it was worth trying the extra money to not stress about breaking frames of pop-ups in the wind when I purchased this extra large Neso sunshade. I purchased two extra feet so that we could make it a hole for post shade. At first I was worried when I put it up because it was so wobbly but once we buried the sandbags for extra weight, it’s stretched out awesome. It moves with the wind and doesn’t grab it like a parachute like a pop-up shade. I love the color and the portability of it because it was smaller than a kids backpack. I’m a little worried about how it will hold up where the posts sit inside of the Lycra. I guess we will see how long they last. But they look amazing and they are dynamic instead of static, which I think has made a huge difference. The sun does shine a little bit through, but it also lets a little wind through, and it moves with the wind. We loved it, and it looked stylish. It was definitely taller and way bigger than any other pop-up shades that we could manage. Highly recommend after 7 days at rocky point. ... show more

  • Has it's perks
Color: Teal
updating again. These poles stink something fierce. I keep replacing them and today had one tear through the foam and then rip through the tent like peter pan cutting through captain hooks sail on the jolly roger. Thankfully, my in laws have a shabumi thingy that we are squeezing under. I might still buy another tent because of the size but seriously can't believe these poles don't have a rounded cap under the foam to prevent them from tearing through the foam tip. It's such a poor design, "fill the bags until they are full and then fill a little more". Except, the foam on the poles can't handle the weight and will tear exposing the sharp pole under it which tears the tent itself. I am going to do some hard research on neso competitors and if I can't find anything I'll probably figure out a way to reinforce the foam tips on the poles. --------------- I've owned it 2 years now so heres my 3 star review. I have a family of five and often have two to four more people with us when we are at the beach. Where this tent is a big win is its size and the amount of shade that it provides. You cannot beat the amount of shade you get with one of these tents. The downside is that you're going to have to replace the poles once to twice a beach season. The poles bend and the foam rips off the top of them which puts tears in the tent itself which causes lots of problems. The material that is the tent is similar to spandex if not spandex but the hem will tear and it will stretch making it totally useless if it's even slightly windy. You will have to turn it to a side that has the hem in tacted to use it. This is all after only one to two beach seasons of use. So figure in 4 to 6 months a year and a few weekends total in that time frame. Jury is out if I'd buy again. The cost is great until you buy your 3rd set of poles. ... show more

  • In a sea of Shibumis, be a Neso!
Color: Save the Whales
In a sea of Shibumis, be a Neso! I bought this so I wouldn’t be lugging an 80-lb umbrella to and from the beach in Hilton Head — best decision ever. It’s durable, rock-stable in the wind (held up on some seriously gusty days), and throws way more shade than a standard umbrella. Setup and takedown take seconds, and it packs down small enough that it doesn’t hog space in the car. It’s also cheaper than the Shibumi and easier to set up. Highly recommend if you want beach shade without the hassle! ... show more

  • Great shade even in the wind
Color: Periwinkle Blue
It makes a ton of shade. Put the legs on the side facing the wind and make sure you put tons of sand in the bags. It took a second to get used to it but it was very stable even in high winds. I took one star away for the carry bag started coming apart after the first use. The internal divider started ripping out and the front cooler pouch is falling apart literally only had my phone in there. The main part of the bag seems pretty tough but those elements aren’t or weren’t for the one we got. ... show more

  • Join the tribe!
Color: Flamingos
The beach is a psychological battleground where your choice of shade architecture defines your soul. On any given shoreline, you will spot the Umbrella Unicorns, nervously watching their rusted metal poles transform into airborne javelins the second a breeze picks up. Nearby are the Canopy Colonizers, occupying an entire zip code with heavy metal frames that block the horizon and cause immediate marital arguments during assembly. Then you have the Shibumi Wind Talkers, whose ultra-light canopies thrive on the wind but sound like a nylon flag ripping at Mach 1 right over their ears, at least until the breeze drops and the fabric collapses onto their faces like a sad, wet blanket. And then there are the Neso Nomads. To join this elite tribe, you must fully respect the laws of mass and tension. If you skimp on the setup, you will instantly be humbled, wrapped in neon spandex like a sweaty burrito while a nearby toddler judges your life choices. The ultimate golden secret to survival is simple: you have to fill those anchor bags until they look like they’re smuggling watermelons out of the grocery store, then stretch the fabric out so the top looks like a trampoline, and lastly bury the bags deeper than the Epstein files. Once you properly anchor it, the Neso becomes an absolute aerodynamic fortress. While the neighboring umbrellas are javelining down the coast impaling tourists and the pop-up tents are twisting into aluminum pretzels, this canopy stands proud, offering glorious, wind-defying, and perfectly quiet shade. It is lightweight, fits effortlessly into its bag, and handles real coastal wind like a champ. Buy the tent, join the tribe, and claim your shoreline dominance! PS-we use the 4 pole setup, definitely worth it. Buy once cry once. ... show more

  • It’s ALMOST perfect!
Color: Flamingos
It’s so close to being perfect! People over complicate the set up, just watch the set up video. It’s easy, but need 2 people if windy. We bought the Gigante and there were 10 of us! 10 beach chairs, 3 huge coolers and 10 people CRAZY! It was amazing until it wasn’t. On day 4 we started noticing the material separating in the corners where the poles go. (4 pole set up is the way to go BTW). On the 6th day, our last night there, it ripped and collapsed. I loved that thing! Customer service was amazing. Offered replacement but I opted for refund because I’m hoping they make some upgrades to fix the problem and I’ll buy again next summer when it’s beach time ... show more

  • Fab tent but watch for tangles when washing
Color: Teal
We were using a canopy which was heavy and dragging it across the beach was nearly killing us. Before our trip I had been looking at Neso tents and had one delivered to our rented beach house. The lightweight tent worked well - easy to carry to the beach, setup was fast and easy, we did shift the poles a little when the wind direction changed, and we put plenty of sand in the bags and buried them and our tent didn’t move or fall down which did happen a couple days to other folks. I only have one complaint about this tent and it’s an easy fix. We got home and I unpacked it, the humidity at the beach made the tent smell a little which I expected and thankfully Neso made it washable so I threw it the washer. When I pulled it out of the dryer it was knotted up to all tarnation, I don’t remember anyone else saying this in reviews so maybe that was just me and dumb luck. It took about half an hour to unknot, everything was still intact so no biggie. In the future I’ll use spring clips to attach the sand bags to the corner it belongs to, Neso could also make a small mesh bag on the inside of the tent corners to hold those sandbags loosely when they are washed, might be a nice place to put lightweight objects like keys or sunglasses. I like this tent so much I’m getting a smaller one for when my BF and I go to the beach just us, looking forward to packing it in my carryon and saving significant cash on umbrella service. ... show more
