    • Thoroughly Impressed with the NEO-TEC NS872 - A Chainsaw Enthusiast's Dream!
As an avid chainsaw collector, ranging from a 25cc/12" to a massive 92cc/42", not to mention my beloved 028 Stihl and a 20-year-old Jonsered 2165 Turbo, I thought I had seen it all. That is until the NEO-TEC NS872 with its 24'' Bar/Chain entered my life. I confess, I might just have a chainsaw addiction! I use my collection for various tasks: the largest saw for flushing stumps, the smallest for limbing, and everything in between becomes firewood. Unboxing the NS872 was an experience in itself. Note that the powerhead and bar/chain arrived separately, which is pretty standard. The chain specs are impressive - a 24" 3/8 .063 with 84 drive links, paired with a robust D025 bar. Starting it is a breeze; it's reliable and doesn't even need the compression release. A simple pull on full choke, a squeeze of the trigger to half choke, and it roars to life by the second pull. Warm it up, and it starts with no choke at all. The richness in the setup out of the box is notable, but once I leaned the high jet after the second tank of fuel, the saw's performance soared to new heights. I have a specific routine for the first run: I like to fill the fuel and oil and start the powerhead with the bar and cover off. This lets me witness the oil gracefully pumping out of the sideplate – it's a sight to behold and primes quickly, with the clutch bell effortlessly turning to operate the oil pump. This ensures the chain and bar are well-lubricated from the get-go. I also make it a point to grease the sprocket nose before installing and at every refill. This one had oil pumping out in under 30 seconds - truly impressive. While the NS872 mostly impressed me, there are a few areas that could use improvement: The chain tensioner feels rough and somewhat fragile, reminiscent of my G661 experience. A quick swap with Stihl tensioner parts did the trick. The bar and chain tensioner travel is quite used up from the get-go, hinting at a potential issue with bar diameter despite correct D025 mount holes. Awaiting comparison with additional chains I've ordered. Initially, the bar didn't oil properly until I flipped it over. Some included accessories like gloves, eye protection, hearing protectors, and plastic parts didn't quite match the saw's quality. The large starter rope handle, while unique, seems more cumbersome than useful. However, these cons are minor when you look at the numerous pros: The adjustable high-volume oil pump is a standout feature. Availability of parts is a huge plus - they're not only plentiful and affordable but even OEM parts fit seamlessly. The flip-top fuel and oil caps are not only functional but also add a touch of class, drawing admiration from all who see them. The large bar nuts, reminiscent of Stihl's design, are highly appreciated for their practicality. Inclusion of a useful t-handle 8mm socket, t-handle T25 bit, and scrench adds to the overall value. Its design, a clone of the classic 40-year-old Stihl saw, ensures reliability and performance. The affordability of the 3/8 24" chains, available at around $25 on Amazon, is the cherry on top. In conclusion, the NEO-TEC NS872 is a stellar addition to my collection, offering quality and value that's hard to beat. If I could suggest improvements, it would be to enhance the chain tensioner build with durable steel threads, include both inside and outside bumper spikes along with a roller chain catcher, and perhaps add a 3/8 8-T sprocket. But as it stands, this saw is a cut above the rest, a true testament to NEO-TEC's commitment to quality and performance. ... show more

    • Alot of power fired right up after couple pulls
Seems to have descent amount of power. Perfect size for larger stuff I was cutting. The blade that was on it lasted a while before having to sharpen it. Only problem I had was the bar tensioner screw stripped teath first day using it. I bought the actual Stihl replacement part for 10$ all new components works great. Only reason for 4 star was screw stripped. I'm cutting through 2 ft dia. tree no problem. I have Stihl m311 and Husqvarna 450 rancher. It definitely got more power than either one of those. Just let you know only been running for couple weeks probably got 50 hrs on it. ... show more

    • Not happy.
Ran great for a day. Next day would not continue to run more than more than 30 seconds. Now can't even pull it. Wish it ran like it did day one. Wrecked my weekend. Looks like it is going to be a fight. Not a peep from customer service.

Checked torque on the bolts in the power head and found they were all properly tightened and seated. Over all fit and finish is pretty good. Some of the plastics have some sharp flash lines and I did cut my hand on the air filter cover. But the power head runs well. Kit and accessories are a nice touch and are quite handy. The user manual and documention could use some more depth, specifically better documentation of break in mix and procedures would be preferable. I do wish they had a properly sized case or bag as an optional accessory. ... show more

    • Cuts like a hot knife through butter!
Con: instructions would have been great Pros: assembly is not a problem, easy to adjust oil, no leaks. Got this as a gift. Then we had 10+ trees fall & this chainsaw helped us get our yard cleaned up.

So this was the first chance I got to use. The only adjustment made was to the idle. Before it was loud but chew through everything we through at it. I had two other professional tree service guys use it the same day. The one guy like it more than his Husqvarna with a 36 inch bar. Said it cut better than his. They said they was gonna go buy one. That's how impressed they was with it. Now for the bad, the chain tightener did not want to tighten the chain unless the nuts to the cover was really loose. And then even was still struggling. Took cover tighten no issue. The oiler spit a little more out than I'd like but better than none at all. The on off choke button is a little touchy but I don't mind, easy to get use to. My over all opinion on this saw is go buy one. Despite the few quarks of a Chinese saw I still feel it deserved 5 stars ... show more

Just back from cutting a cord if oak and cord of pine on my first trip out with the new saw. Here's what I found. Initially the saw was hard to start, partly due to poor instruction manual which differs from the actual saw delivered. Once I figured out the 3 position choke/run/stop switch--which is cheap plastic and likely to break--it ran strong and cut well. Body has more plastic than led to believe, and tool kit helpful but unclear what most items are for. Accessories are thoughtful, but cheap and unneeded. If Neo-Tec wants to improve bundle, hold the junk and throw in a second chain. ... show more

    • Damaged Never Worked.
Purchased through Amazon, but can't return through Amazon. The Chinese manufacturer (Neotec), requested videos of the damaged item, which I provided. Neotec said they would send me a ns872i and I could keep the damaged one for parts. I was surprised and extremely impressed. Now I having problems getting then to keep their word, which is all email correspondence, the only method of communication. I wish Amazon would provide so assistance. I've two other chainsaws and other items from Neotec, but customer service in key, and without it, the whole process is buyers beware ... sad from two large companies, that you spend lots of money with. ... show more
