This versatile hardware controller features 18 function and navigation buttons, with secondary operations accessible via the Shift button. Additionally, it offers 11 buttons, 13 endless potentiometers, and four extra parameter control buttons, all with RGB illumination. Whilst it took a bit to set up (the way *I* want it to work), it was easy. I have some preferred shortcuts different from the very odd shortcuts of Fender Studio (Example, in many DAWs and most NLE "w" is a full rewind. JKL are scrub forward/backward, S is split, etc etc. This was easy for me to set up in Nektarine, and the Nektar system does work with other tools, albeit clumsily unless they have the full api. Very happy w/it. I do recommend figuring out your preferred angle with a protractor, as some folks really like them angled steep 30degrees or so. Not everyone will want a stand but for angle of use and space saving, I wanted a deeper tilt, you can find em in a search outside of Amazon. ... show more

Amazing piece of equipment. So much nicer to simply reach here and there for a knob, slider or button than have to use my computer keyboard and mouse to FIND, let alone ACT on something - one at a time. The CS 12 is emulating a studio, with a footprint a little larger than a KLEENEX box. As this was designed to operate Pro Logic, it's all there for you to control. Very sensible design. With the 12 control pots assignable AND color coded, designing a parametric EQ setting is a dream. Nektar has managed to make the terrific capabilities of Logic Pro even easier to use and manage. The only way to make a better control surface than the CS 12 would mean making a much larger unit, but with AUTOMATION being part of the package, a bunch of extra sliders and controls aren't needed, as they might be for a live show mix. That NEKTAR has done us the service to pre-map the heck out of CS 12 is just the frosting on the proof of the pudding. Since it arrived quickly and safely, too, five stars doesn't reach quite far enough. When your DAW is available to a "CS 12" surface that's designed around your DAW, Nektar should be your best bet. ... show more

    • A terrible product and worse experience. Do not buy.
Terrible. Don't waste your money. The little screen looks like crap compared to your monitor, and plugin parameters for anything more than an EQ are a nightmare to look at. Feels cheap and doesn't really have anything to offer other than the fleeting satisfaction of riding a fader for maybe 10% of your mixing process. I tried it for about an hour and hated it. I'm really hoping Alto Music doesn't take 20% off my return since it already arrived looking like it had been opened by someone else. ... show more

    • Crashes on Cubase 15 every time fader moved
Number of issues The package comes without 5V DC power adapter, and is listed as optional thus not included. The other reviews claiming that it crashes goes off after a while are true. In fact in my case it crashed right after motorized fader moves first time! (Using Cubase 15 Pro trial) One of the common issues as I looked up is some old/third-party VST plugin. Although I ran Cubase 15 with no plugins mode, and still can consistently reproduce crash as soon as fader moves. The other common issues could be that there is not enough power for the fader motor, hence my complain about optional the 5V DC adapter above. ... show more

    • Stellar product that punches well above its price!
I haven't tested it with other DAWs, but it works wonderfully with Logic Pro! I contacted support about a minor thing, and they gave me many ways to address it within a day. Buttons and switches are mapped out of the box, and can easily be remapped if desired. Also works with all plugins I tested. Highly recommended!! ... show more

I don't know why so many people are complaining about this product working with DAWs other than Logic Pro when their website says that it is specifically designed to work with Logic Pro at the moment, but that they will be constantly updating and mapping the firmware to work with other DAWs. It might help to check out the product closer on their website before buying it and expecting it to be something more. None of the Logic Pro users commenting here seem to be having issues. I get it if you bought thinking it was made ready to go for your particular DAW, but if you're using Logic Pro, it works perfectly just like they advertised on their website, and on all the YouTube reviews. ... show more

    • Never Got It To Work, Even With Tech Support
Nice idea, if it worked. I'm on Mac with Cubase 14. Spent 3 days waiting for tech support to reply, they sent me a new driver and some instructions for working with sends, which wasn't the problem. I told them it would work for about 10 minutes then quit lol Moving on to another brand...this was not ready for prime time. ... show more
