Just got this a day ago but was very happy to have it etching/burning within a half hour of opening the box. Super easy to set up and use. You HAVE to use their app (on a phone or computer) which is a bummer, but it's an entry-level unit so it'll do for now. I don't like how all these companion apps need ALL your phone permissions just to talk to a laser engraver (via Bluetooth). I installed the app and it wanted to upgrade to next version, but I couldn't get that newer version to connect with BT, so went back to previous version and it connected fine. I will say the app is extremely simple and easy to get going quickly. Pics included are the app's default images and are my first tests on some different materials (front and back of thin leather) and I am very impressed with the quality and resolution. It's not fast, though. The lobster took about 10 minutes and the turtle about 30 minutes. I think you can adjust the settings to make it faster but it doesn't engrave as deeply. Also, it's literally burning whatever it's engraving so it can be smoky and smelly. I did it in a garage with fans going and it was fine. In better weather I might use it outside since it's so compact and portable. Overall I'd give it 5 stars, but the software app is clunky and I hate the permissions required. Also, I tried creating some text in the app to test and could not get it to work. Looks like I'll resort to creating an image of text in Photoshop (it'll look better, anyway!) and simply importing it. But overall I am thrilled by the nice results and for getting started with an under $200 engraver, it seems like a pretty good choice. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Update. Stopped working and no response from company. Decided to return. Stay away from this product My level of CNC, engraving, and wood burning was zero before purchasing this NEJE Master 2 engraving setup. I have some technical expertise with CAD, vector drawing from vinyl cutting using a cameo silhouette 3. During the summer of 2020 I experimented with a 3D printer and it was a nightmare, so I did not have high expectations of a simple plug and play setup for this engraver based on the 2 hours it took to assemble a 3d printer and hours to learn how to print. Easy and simple assembly: This is a 5 step process that takes less than 20 minutes. It may be quicker but I was creating a video of the different steps to add to this writeup and share with my craft groups. Without recording I think I could have this setup in 10 minutes. Just plugging in 3 cables, tightening 4 bolts with the included wrench, and 2 long screws with washers using the L hex tool that was provided. Then I used the wiki for NEJE to download the windows driver and free software. I was able to cut a skull with fire at 50 percent power as my first cut without watching a tutorial video. I used the dashed square line box so I could watch where the laser was going to cut and then place my blank wood square. Then I press the PLAY triangle and it started to cut. I quickly put on the green protective laser googles so I could watch the burn. I also followed the pdf instructions to use inkscape and convert graphics from my vinyl cutter ( svg, dxf, png, jpeg, eps ) and make into a gcode file. Then I drag and dropped the gc file onto the NEJE window and my image appeared and was ready for burning. This kit also provided some blanks of various materials for me to learn more about this engraver. This extras goodie bag has two thick 1x1 inch squares, a metal black dog tag that exposed silver when you engrave the black coating, 5 pieces of thin cardstock, a lucite rectangular piece with a pre drilled hole to be used as a key tag, along with brush and marker. During the winter break after the holiday, I will be watching more videos on Lightburn and how to use this Master 2 from the vlogger TinC33 on youtube. ... show more

    • An easy to set up and use large area engraver. NEJE Max 2s 30W.
I was skeptical about the claim of a setup in only a few minutes. It is true. The unit comes beautifully packed and mostly assembled. I had it up and ready for software in about 10 minutes. The instructions are minimal and there are lots of on-line resources and YouTube videos that walk you through the software install and setup. The software that comes with the machine via download is adequate, but the real power of the engraver is realized with commercial software such as Lightburn. I was doing my first cut within about a half hour of opening the box. Be sure to have a disposable surface under the engraver. You will make a mistake and burn through something you are intending to engrave. I now have some interesting new patterns on my workbench top. The results you get for engraving and cutting vary greatly. Results are very material and surface dependent. Finding the right settings of power and speed and pass count is a trial and error process. Once found, results are amazing! Be advise that the Max (810mm by 410mm) takes up a LOT of table space. the work area is about 16" by 32" and the actual machine is larger. Plan lots of space. Pros - excellent quality hardware - mostly per-assembled - outstanding packaging - tremendous value - really nice results Cons - inadequate instructions.. you MUST get online for instructions and software - focus wheel is difficult to reach and use. - focus is critical and difficult to get right (may be my inexperience) - software user interface is not intuitive - watch some YouTube or read how-to sites. Wishes - I wish I had bought the 40W. A lot more power for a little more money. -- the 30W works great, I am trying to do some heavy cutting which is hard on it. In summary, easy to set up, easy for first light, and the results are impressive. I highly recommend this machine. ... show more
